Kings
There is no replacement for real kings.
Let it be Mandela, Gandhi, Navalny...they are incorruptible.
The nouveau rich are trying so hard...they can't get there, it is out of reach for them by definition. Their raison d'etre is the opposite of what is required for moral and ethical strength.
It is not about money. Or power. They are stifled.
It is about honor.
Acknowledgement of humanity. Generosity.
Love.
Inclusiveness.
Aragorn. Lord of the rings.
"If you can walk with the crowd and keep your virtue, or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch; If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you; If all men count with you, but none too much; If you can fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds worth of distance run - Yours is the earth and everything that's in it, and which is more - you'll be a man my son."
Rudyard Kipling

1moWe've got a lot more work to do beyond our own expertise of "building science". We can't retreat to our enclaves of the neoliberal status quo from here, the fight is on. Class war must be a key cog of the sustainability cause; they're imminently connected. *neoliberal economics, profits before people, is what got us all into this mess to begin with and have led to the outcomes we see before very own eyes and noses.....no more glamouring this situation with Passive House McManssion's is a good place to start.

1moMany of us are devastated - the reality of life has temporarily set us back. As MLK once said, “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” What we thought was a light at the end of the tunnel has turned out to be a train... but we know better and will maintain our integrity.

1moThank you Kat! Aristotelian virtues did not win the argument & I share the concern about the road ahead but personally empowered to pursue good.
