KRACK Attack Hacks WiFi Security

KRACK Attack Hacks WiFi Security

Many of you may have already heard about the latest WiFi security exploit. The "KRACK Attack" WiFi WPA2 exploit targets WiFi networks, specifically the WiFi client. Any device with a WiFi chip is vulnerable to this attack. WPA2 password encryption is the most commonly used WiFi password encryption setup for WiFi networks.

The hacker needs to be in proximity, ideally between your WiFi device and the Access Point or Router, and once they have exploited the WiFi network with this hack, they can spy on your data, and potentially gain access to other unsecured devices on the WiFi network.

Google's lack of action regarding the WiFi WPA vulnerability, is extremely concerning for Android device users. At this stage, Android users are most at risk.

Apple have confirmed they have patched the beta versions only, of macOS, iOS, tvOS, and watchOS platforms, but no patch has been released for current OS versions.

Microsoft have already released a security update on October 10 for currently supported Windows versions.

For now, best to keep clear of public WiFi hotspots, if you can, or invest in a good (paid) VPN client to hide your transmitted data.

Most importantly, make sure you keep ALL your WiFi devices up to date with all the latest patches or updates!

We definitely haven't heard the last of this.

Be careful out there!
