KWHCoin Developing Energy as a Service Model (EaaS) in the Cape Fear Region

KWHCoin is actively developing an innovative energy services model in the Cape Fear Region. Three counties form the core of the Cape Fear region: Brunswick County (since 2009 part of the Myrtle Beach metropolitan area ), New Hanover County, and Pender County. The company strategy is to develop pilots, then convert participants to customers, as they evaluate the benefits of the energy services.

The first pilot in the area was the Sustain with Sound Music & Arts Festival held in Wilmington, North Carolina, on April 27, 2019. The festival founder and director of operations, Katy Nickel reached out to Cape Fear Solar Systems in hopes that they could come up with a clean energy solution to make the festival even more sustainable than past years. Cape Fear Solar Systems reached out to KWHCoin to partner and the coin was used as an offset mechanism for the power used at the concert. The use of KWHCoin as a solar technology and incentive has paved the way to develop more viable business models.

Wilmington Airport Terminal Expansion

The Wilmington International Airport (ILM)is currently undergoing and expansion project that will increase the terminals capacity by 75%. The project is expected to be completed by fall/winter of 2022. KWHCoin is in the process of bidding to perform energy services for the ILM expansion and developing a long term arrangement.

“The airport terminal expansion is huge for the city of Wilmington and the Cape Fear Region. With the new design and state of the art features we feel we can add the latest in energy services and blockchain technology to the new building. Our energy monitoring and energy tracking can ensure the airport is getting optimum performance and cutting costs so were very excited to be engaged in the bidding process, says KWHCoin CEO Girard Newkirk.”

KWHCoin and VIA are partnering with Boston University to analyze smart meter data across multiple companies while maintaining data privacy. KWHCoin will be utilized as the financial incentive and also organize initial data capture from participants including electric cooperatives, utilities and energy companies.

Congratulations on the launch, the festival, and I know many more blessings are coming when word gets out. How can I help KWHC grow?
