Last Chance for The Ranch...

Time has something to tell us, if we are willing to listen.

And time is on our side when we face a company or career transition.

Sadly, most of us are programmed to "jump back on the horse" immediately. Fill calendars, join more clubs, and JUST GET BUSY!

When we rush to the next thing, we miss important messages. And as I have learned from advising and coaching over 200 high performing leaders, we often wait until our health spirals out of control.

Here are real examples from my client portfolio…

·       The SVP of Sales who wanted to shift careers after a big IPO. But they were “too busy” to jump off the fast-moving growth train. During his annual physical, his doctor that he was three months away from a fatal health scare.

·       The former “celebrity level” CMO of a multibillion-dollar software firm resigned without a transition plan. Six months into their career reinvention, they became exhausted from responding to every random opportunity.

·       The co-founder of an award-winning global company sold it for a hefty sum. Not missing a beat, they immediately accepted six board positions. Their nervous system went into overdrive.

See the common denominator? They initially operated alone, and they jumped back on the crazy busy track too quickly.

As we see big shifts in work cultures, growing demands for digital fluency and increased global complexity, it may feel counter-intuitive to skip a beat. The FOMO and fear mongers constantly remind us that we might fall behind.

Yet we cannot afford to ignore the call of the midlife pause.

And what makes this important now? Because companies, much like individuals, experience midlife challenges. Yet few of us learned how to navigate these unchartered waters. We can waste countless weeks and months swirling around in an eddy of confusion and chaos.

Here’s another reason we need to take transitions seriously—yet slowly. More workers are struggling to redesign the next chapter of their companies and careers. Midlife does not just affect the over 50 set. Some of my clients are dealing with messy midlife moments as early as their 30’s. Psychology Today reports midlife falling squarely between early 40s to early 60s.

Regardless of age, you can expect midlife to arrive at your doorstep.

Dedicating time and space to reflect, refresh, and reconnect with your soul during this period is not a luxury. It’s the difference between floundering and flourishing.

That’s why we have extended the deadline to join us in Santa Fe, New Mexico October 17-19  for “The Midlife Innovator” retreat. We are keeping the invitation open until August 29.

MEA’s 2,600-acre campus brings a magical mix of open skies for contemplative thought, nourishing meals, life-changing curriculum, and a caring community.

You’ll not only be joined by some incredible innovators from AARP, Amazon, Belmont University, CoStar, HomeServe USA and others.

You will also experience what TIME calls “One of the Greatest Places for 2024” and get some great coaching from my co-facilitator, Chip Conley :

Here’s what Chip says about TIME’s recognition:

“We are over the moon about this TIME award. MEA’s Santa Fe campus holds special powers for every leader facing a midlife chrysalis—which we also call ‘the messy middle.’”

“I am also excited to welcome The Midlife Innovator cohort to our campus this fall. Lisa and I are longtime collaborators. Together, we have designed a program tailored to C-level leaders shifting their focus from success to significance. Rising Circle Ranch provides the perfect backdrop.”

I’m a MEA graduate, and I agree wholeheartedly.

If you believe in the restorative power of nature, and are ready to navigate your company’s or personal midlife moment, then The Midlife Innovator awaits you. We will help you cultivate purpose, wisdom and a caring community.

Care to join us? Review the agenda and register here. Our next cohort virtual session happens August 29.

It’s your TIME. Are you listening? This may be your last chance to re-invent at the ranch.
