What is Leadership?

“A person who takes their responsibilities to complete a task that assigns to them within the time period ”

Style of Leadership

Leadership style refers to the way in which a leader interacts with and directs their team or organization. There are many different leadership styles, each with its own strengths and weaknesses. Here are a few common styles of leadership:

Autocratic leadership: An autocratic style of leadership is one in which the leader takes decisions without consulting the team. In this style, the leader has total authority over the decision-making process and is not permitted to seek input from or assign tasks to others. In addition to authoritarian political regimes, this approach is most frequently connected to settings in the military and law enforcement.

The leader is frequently regarded as the ultimate authority figure and their choices are rarely challenged in an autocratic leadership style. The primary goal is to keep the organization under tight control and make sure that everyone abides by the boss's rules.

The following are some possible benefits of autocratic leadership:

  • Decision-making speed: Since the leader is the only one who makes choices, they can do so without consulting anyone else.
  • Clear direction: When an autocratic leader is in control, everyone is aware of their responsibilities and the repercussions of disobeying the leader.
  • Stability: An autocratic leadership style can help keep stability and order in circumstances where there is a distinct hierarchy and chain of command.

This leadership approach does have some possible drawbacks, though:

  • Lack of input: Autocratic leaders might overlook insightful suggestions and ideas from members of their team, which would prevent invention and creativity.
  • Low morale: In an autocratic setting, team members may experience a loss of engagement and motivation if they believe that their ideas and views are not valued.
  • The boss, who makes the final decisions, might be resistant to change or to novel concepts that threaten the status quo.

In general, Autocratic Leadership can be successful in circumstances that call for quick decision-making or high levels of risk. It might not work well in settings that value collaboration or creativity, though.

Bureaucratic leadership: A leadership style known as bureaucratic leadership is one that places a strong emphasis on adhering to set guidelines and practices, frequently to an extreme degree. Enforcing the standards and making sure that everyone in the organization complies with them is the leader's responsibility in this style. Government agencies, big businesses, and other organizations that demand a lot of structure and control are most frequently linked with this style.

Decision-making is frequently centralized, hierarchical, and with a distinct line of command in a bureaucratic leadership style. This type of leadership is characterized by minimal contact and collaboration with the team members and is frequently viewed as distant and unapproachable. Instead of encouraging innovation or creativity, the emphasis is on keeping stability and predictability.

The following are some possible benefits of bureaucratic leadership:

  • Consistency: This style can produce a high degree of consistency in operations and decision-making because it emphasizes adhering to set norms and procedures.
  • Predictability: Bureaucratic leadership can establish a predictable atmosphere where everyone is aware of the expectations placed upon them and the potential repercussions of their decisions.
  • Efficiency: Bureaucratic leaders can create a streamlined and efficient organization by adhering to accepted processes and protocols.

This leadership approach does have some possible drawbacks, though:

  • Lack of adaptability: Bureaucratic leaders may be overly concerned with adhering to rules and procedures, which can make it challenging to deal with unforeseen events or adapt to shifting conditions.
  • Lack of innovation: Because government leaders are primarily concerned with adhering to established practices, they may be averse to fresh concepts or innovative solutions.
  • Lack of autonomy: A bureaucratic leadership approach frequently centers on decision-making, which may cause team members to lack autonomy.

In organizations that need a lot of structure and control, bureaucratic leadership can be successful overall, but it may not be the best choice for environments that are more innovative or dynamic.

Democratic leadership: This is a form of leadership where the leader engages the members of their team in decision-making. In this leadership style, decisions are made through a collaborative and participatory process, and the leader welcomes input and feedback from team members. This approach is typically found in workplaces where teamwork and collaboration are valued highly.

The leader is viewed as a coach and facilitator rather than a dictator in a democratic leadership approach. The goal is to foster an atmosphere where everyone's thoughts and views are respected and taken into consideration.

The following are some possible benefits of democratic leadership:

  • Increased engagement: Team members are more likely to feel motivated and engaged when they believe that their views are valued and taken into consideration.
  • Greater innovation: A democratic leader can access a broader range of perspectives and ideas by involving team members in the decision-making process, resulting in more innovative solutions.
  • Greater job satisfaction: Team members who work in a democratic atmosphere feel like they have more control over their work and are happier in their positions.

This leadership approach does have some possible drawbacks, though:

  • It may take longer to come to a decision or reach a consensus because decisions are made through a participatory procedure.
  • Conflict management is difficult because it can be more difficult to settle disputes democratically when they arise within the team.
  • Lack of accountability: Team members sometimes hesitate to hold themselves or their teammates responsible for their choices or actions.

Overall, organizations that place a high value on creativity, teamwork, and collaboration can be successful with democratic leadership. However, it might not be the best option when making quick decisions or when there is a lot of danger involved.

Diplomatic leadership: A leader who prioritizes developing relationships and fostering a positive work atmosphere is said to be practicing diplomatic leadership. In this leadership style, the leader prioritizes dialogue, cooperation, and reaching an agreement while attempting to stay as far away from conflict and confrontation as they can. Public relations, foreign relations, and diplomacy are the professions most frequently linked to this style.

A leader who leads diplomatically is viewed as a guide and mediator rather than a decision-maker. The emphasis is on encouraging open communication and developing relationships among team members.

The following are some possible benefits of diplomatic leadership:

  • Positive workplace: A diplomatic leader can foster a positive and encouraging workplace that encourages productivity and engagement by placing a high priority on communication and cooperation.
  • Strong bonds of confidence and respect can be established between team members by a diplomatic leader by concentrating on developing relationships.
  • Resolution of disputes: Rather than combat or use of force, disputes are frequently settled diplomatically through dialogue and cooperation.

However, there are a number of possible drawbacks to this leadership approach.

  • Consensus-building and cooperation are prioritized by diplomatic leaders, which can lead to decision-making that is slower than usual.
  • Conflict management challenges: While diplomatic leaders are adept at mediating disputes, they may find it challenging to control more combative or belligerent team members.
  • Lack of responsibility: In some circumstances, diplomatic leaders might be reluctant to hold themselves or their team members responsible for their deeds or choices.

Overall, organizations where collaboration and relationship-building are prized, like non-profits or government agencies, can benefit from diplomatic leadership. However, it might not be the best option when making quick decisions or when there is a lot of danger involved.

In this story, The Hero encounters The Mentor while out for a walk in a park. The Mentor, in spite of his challenging conditions, exudes a sense of positivity and contentment that intrigues The Hero. The four pillars of leadership—vision, value, impact, and influence—are taught to The Hero over the course of several meetings with The Mentor.

A leader, according to the Mentor, is someone who has a distinct idea of what they want to accomplish, is aware of their values, and employs their abilities to have a positive effect on the world. The mentor's lessons prompt the hero to re-examine his own life and leadership style, and he comes to the conclusion that he has been overly preoccupied with material possessions and work titles. He makes the decision to follow The Mentor's advice in order to lead with greater effectiveness and kindness.

The hotel manager who raised to leadership success:

In this conversation, The Hero stays at a hotel where he encounters Ms. Sushi, a manager who has changed the atmosphere and operations of the establishment. Strong leadership qualities in Ms. Sushi inspire and push her staff to give their customers exceptional service. Every employee has the ability to be a leader, and she empowers them to take responsibility for their tasks and make a positive difference in the hotel's success.

The hero learns from Ms. Sushi the value of establishing clear goals, inspiring and motivating others, and giving her team ongoing feedback and support. The hero discovers that leadership is about enabling others to realize their full potential rather than just taking control.

“I Need No Title to Be a Leader”

Ms. Sushi also shares the first  philosophy:1st core principles word is “IMAGE” & THE 5 RULES

  • Innovation- “I improve 1% Today and feel energetic ”
  • Mastery- “ FMOB- Be the First, the Most, the Only, The Best” Keep practicing, To be the Best in the world.

Rambo imparts to The Hero the value of compassion, active attention, and awareness of others' needs. A leader, according to him, is someone who prioritizes the needs of their team and clients and is constantly looking for ways to add value and have a positive effect. The Hero discovers that leadership is about more than just achievement; it's also about changing the world and leaving a lasting legacy.

In this conversation, The Hero encounters Jet, and she emphasizes that self-leadership, or accepting responsibility for one's own physical and emotional well-being, comes before other leadership. She tells The Hero that taking care of oneself is essential for developing into a great leader, not just a luxury.

Jet also imparts to The Hero the value of focus and self-awareness. She exhorts him to stay in the moment and give his all to whatever he is doing. In order to refuel and rejuvenate, she also stresses the value of having breaks and making space for oneself.

In summary, Jet advises the hero that in order to be a great leader, one must first be a great individual. To lead with clarity, purpose, and sincerity, one must take care of themselves, develop self-awareness, and engage in mindfulness practices.

“To Be a Great Leader, First Become a Great Person”

Ms. Jet.  also shares the Forth philosophy:4th core principles word is “SHINE” & THE 5 RULES

  • See Clearly:- The view to see clearly
  • Health is Wealth:- minimum 13 Mint for cardio, Eat healthy and timely, Sleep well, drink water.
  • Inspiration:-Do the thing or work which inspires you. It will help to boost your Mind, Emotion, and Power.
  • Neglect not:-Spend time with family, friends, and loved ones. because they support us emotionally.
  • Elevate your lifestyle:- Sustain in your life. You must have a purpose that always anchorage you to live for the betterment.

Each of these stories emphasizes a unique facet of leadership and personal development. They demonstrate how cultivating an optimistic outlook, a solid moral code, and a dedication to ongoing personal development can help regular people become extraordinary leaders.

These are all life lessons on Leadership I learned from the book "The Leader Who Had No Title" by Robin Sharma .
