Q: What have been the defining moments in your 21-year journey?

"The technology landscape has undergone significant transitions," Saumil reflects. "We've evolved from a product-driven market where features were the primary selling point, to a service-dated market focused on price and performance. Today, we're in an AI and Analytics-driven era."

This evolution has shaped Arya Omnitalk's approach to innovation and market strategy. Saumil emphasizes the importance of keeping "your watch and vision open in the industry," which provides the foresight needed to capture market opportunities.

 

Pioneering India's Radio Taxi Revolution

Q: What's been your most memorable project?

With evident pride, Saumil recalls the 2007 launch of their taxi dispatch solution. "Before all the app-based aggregators came, in every major city, if you called for a cab, you would see an MDT (Mobile Data Terminal) of Arya Omnitalk."

 The solution was revolutionary for its time, featuring:

  • State-of-the-art LCD keypads
  • Integrated payment POS machines
  • Smart card systems
  • Predictive analysis for optimal cab distribution

 

Leadership Philosophy 

Q: What's your approach to team building and management?

Saumil's leadership philosophy rests on three pillars:

1. Empowerment: "I believe in empowering my team and enabling them to take major decisions."

2. Shared Responsibility: "When success comes, due credit goes to the team. When something fails critically, I take the onus."

3. Empathy: "I put myself in their shoes. I take at least one assignment myself to understand the challenges."

 

Future Vision

Q: What's next for Arya Omnitalk?

Two major initiatives are in the pipeline:

1. GNSS Tolling: The company is fully prepared with AIS140 GPS tracking devices and enforcement solutions, positioned to capture this emerging market.

 2. Predictive Analytics Platform: "We're building a platform that will capture behavioral parameters and predictively close-loop actions," Saumil explains. This initiative aims to enable proactive responses across human behavior, machine operations, and security systems.

Q: What keeps you motivated after two decades?

"My mind is programmed to take challenges, and I'm knowledge-hungry," Saumil shares. He remains driven by:

  • The thrill of solving complex problems
  • Building sustainable growth paths for the organization

Looking Back: Advice to His Younger Self

Q: What advice would you give to your younger self?

1. Business Perspective:

  • Diversify market segments and products
  • Balance tangible ROI with intangible value creation
  • Focus on building IP and valuation

2. Technical Perspective:

  • Maintain separate teams for current operations and future development
  • Establish robust systems from the start

Despite being at the helm of cutting-edge technology initiatives, he shares a refreshingly humble anecdote: "Despite putting in lots of efforts and even appointing a coach, I couldn't learn swimming." He laughs while adding that he still needs floaters - drawing a thoughtful parallel to leadership: "Just as the team has been supportive for so many years, whether to sail through business or even swim, I need support."
