Leading design conference 2024
(This is not an AI generated content)
This week I had the privilege of attending the Leading Design conference in London and I would like to share the main learnings I got from it.
I would like to thanks Clearleft Rebecca Groves Chris How for making it happen ✨
My key take aways
1) Globally, design leaders are assuming "beyond-design roles", Katrina Alcorn shared many different examples of design leaders that migrated to other areas. The most important thing in design leadership is to understand what differentiation abilities you can bring to the strategy table. Many other speakers shared transitional stories and how they connected design and business, also how they survived the emotional journeys of changes.
2) Your authenticity is made of the scars you have. Be proud of the path you took, all the ups and downs made your experience wider. Design leaders have a different perspective, user centricity helps us make the real world outside in the business. Design leaders have facilitation skills, storytelling abilities and can easily concept tangible futures.
3) To achieve successful changes we need: pressure for change, a shared vision, capacity to translate it to execution and a realistic work plan. Without any of these elements we would fail.
I took notes during all talks:
It's an open document, so, feel free to add comments, reflections, questions. If you also attended this conference, send me a message and I will give you permission to add your main insights to the document.
