Leading the way! Advanced Piping Systems' commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of industrial piping in Australia and Oceania

Sustainability has become a cornerstone for modern enterprises in the ever-evolving landscape of industrial development. At Advanced Piping Systems, we stand at the forefront of this movement, establishing innovative solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of industrial piping across Australia and Oceania.

Who are we

Founded in 1990, Advanced Piping Systems has become a leading supplier of industrial piping solutions. With a reputation for quality, innovation, and sustainability, we offer a comprehensive range of piping products and services designed to meet the demanding needs of various industries, including mining, water treatment, and oil and gas.

Our green innovations

We focus on sustainability. We know traditional piping can impact the environment. So, we have invested heavily in research and development to create eco-friendly alternatives. These innovations include:

  1. Recyclable materials: Our pipes are manufactured using high-density polyethylene (HDPE). HDPE is known for its durability, longevity, and corrosion resistance, which extend the piping systems' lifespan and reduce the need for replacements.
  2. Energy-efficient manufacturing: Our manufacturing processes minimise waste and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our production techniques are optimised to make sure our operations are as green as possible.
  3. Lightweight designs: Our products are strong but lightweight, saving energy in transport and installation.
  4. Advanced joining techniques: Our joining techniques enhance the piping systems' integrity and reduce the energy required during installation.
  5. Prefabricated modular construction: We strongly advocate prefabricated modular construction. Assembling components in a controlled workshop environment significantly reduces on-site labour, accommodation requirements, and the time needed for installation. This method allows for a higher degree of precision and quality control while minimising the environmental impact of construction activities.
  6. Recycling program: We recycle cardboard, timber, and HDPE off-cuts. HDPE is 100% recyclable and can be reused in products like railway sleepers and landscaping products. This reduces the need to harvest limited hardwood forests, preserving them for future generations and natural habitats.
  7. Carbon-saving solutions: HDPE pipes have the benefit of being natural insulators, do not crack when frozen, and can withstand ground movement. An example is our white coextruded heat-reflective pipes, which reduce the need for cooling and, consequently, wasted energy.
  8. Battery-powered electrofusion welders: Our welders run on batteries and can be charged with solar power. They are lightweight and quiet, reducing the need for fuel and noise pollution. This innovation has impressed the civil and mining industries, allowing them to achieve points for their businesses in the search for safer, more environmentally sustainable processes and technology.

PE100 piping and HDPE resin

We use PE100 piping and fittings manufactured from HDPE resin. The resin comes from waste gas that was previously flared (burned off) during the production of refined oils. This process reduces waste and provides high-quality materials for industrial applications. HDPE plastics offer a 100-year-plus design life, require no coating or maintenance against the elements and corrosion, and provide a more environmentally friendly alternative to materials like steel, PVC, and rubber.

Lean manufacturing process

We employ a lean manufacturing process, optimising efficiency and reducing waste. Streamlined production minimises material usage and energy consumption, contributing to a more sustainable manufacturing approach.

Efficient transport and storage

In addition to efficient manufacturing, our warehouse and storage are in the same location, reducing additional transport needs and emissions. We also use modular packing methods to reduce transport volume by two-thirds. This is particularly impactful when transporting to remote locations, where reduced trips significantly lower carbon emissions and logistical costs. The modular packing approach also reduces the storage area required on-site.

Solar-powered facilities

Our 7000m² manufacturing and warehouse facility has an extensive solar power generating system, reducing our carbon footprint. Our facility leverages solar energy to power its operations, significantly reducing its carbon footprint and reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

Impact on Australia & Oceania

At Advanced Piping Systems, our sustainable piping solutions are making a big difference. We help industries in Australia and Oceania reduce their environmental impact by lowering carbon emissions through recyclable materials and energy-efficient manufacturing. With high-quality, durable pipes that last longer, we reduce replacements and environmental harm. Our solutions save money on maintenance and replacements. Our prefabricated modular construction reduces on-site labour needs and projects' environmental and logistical footprint while boosting safety and efficiency.

Looking ahead

We are continuously exploring new technologies and practices for sustainability. Advanced Piping Systems is the leader in the industrial piping sector and a beacon of sustainability. We hope to inspire and set a benchmark for others to follow, showing that innovation and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.
