Let's Talk Tribes in Pharmacy & Medicine for 2020
It has never been easier to find your tribe in healthcare, pharmacy, and medicine! The variety of associations & organizations over the past 20 years has exploded in healthcare...and that's a good thing, as we become more diverse and treat a widely diverse population of patients with different needs. Just look at pharmacy alone! We can practice in pretty much ANY setting now, including NO SETTING - we can literally go where the patient is and help them, even outside the corner drug store!
In fact, as we reach the new decade, I wanted to interrupt my usualness of the podcast, The Edutainer, to focus on just a handful of these tribes. If you, like me, shop for which associations or tribes to be a part of for the coming year NOW.
Why is it important to join a tribe, association or organization? Well, many reasons!
- Namely - our profession is changing so fast that it is giving all of us whiplash, so we need to be on watch for our patients and our profession.
- Second, we have to stick together - if we have rogue factions, we're never going to win anything--if we stick together, we can advocate for better care for our patients or better professional lifestyle and practice for us.
- Third - networking: it's important to get around and be around your peeps on occasion.
- It's a great place to shop for career development ideas.
So, I'm going to collect the episodes on podcasts from this miniseries, right here, right now, so all of us can review them in one place. (I'm a big fan of a solid collection, BTW!) Here we go!
