Letting go
Fifth in the series of articles on #whatmakespeopletick
If you believe in something then you shouldn't give up . You must preserve, keep the faith and try harder till you succeed and succeed you will. We have all held perseverance as a high virtue and rightly so.
But what if you are stuck on the wrong track , what if you are not cut out for something . When does one pause to consider the possibility that maybe this isn't for me ? When does one decide that its time to let go ?
Think of those having made a career choice that made perfect sense at the time but isn't energising them enough, Think of people stuck in wrong relationships or jobs that doesn't bring out the best in them, think of people caught in the rat race and not able to quit to pursue their dream , think of the scores who live in mediocrity because choosing something else that lights them up will mean letting go of the familiarity and comfort of the known, tried and tested.
Sometimes though , Lifes big ah-ha moments, come when one dares to let go , makes the choice to break the pattern or frame .
Letting go is freeing . Letting go is not the same as Giving up . Letting go is very scary too. But unless one journey ends a new one will not begin. So knowing when my journey is loosing steam and not taking me to the place I was originally headed to, is critical. Knowing when to let go is vital to renewal of life . Its also a deeply vulnerable moment and will take all one has to get past the fear and insecurity . But a new world opens up only to those who are willing to do just that.
Holding on is a test of strength but Letting go is wisdom !
