Leveraging AI: ChatGPT's Top 2023 Business Trends
By now, you’re likely one of the many millions of people who have experimented with ChatGPT.
At Podopolo, we’ve discovered it can spin out quality blogs, personalized nurture emails, and social media posts. Tell it an emotion a person may be experiencing about problem or challenge, share your company’s solution, and presto, watch the bot produce convincing emotional sales letter. It can write code and QA it. It can even write a love letter. Seriously, one of our team members tried it (and it worked, so I’m told…) Spooky stuff.
This past week I tried something else.
I put my podcast Wings of Inspired Business in the hands of ChatGPT to see if it could match the expertise of one of my female founder expert interviewees.
I wanted to see what its artificial intelligence has to say about business trends for 2023, plus advice for entrepreneurs on how best to leverage these trends.
With breathtaking speed, Open AI’s ChatGPT summoned the collective musings and predictions of the entire worldwide web, and in three seconds a very compelling list. Here it is, word for word:
1. Artificial intelligence and automation: As technology continues to advance, we can expect to see more and more businesses adopting AI and automation in their operations. This can help streamline processes, reduce costs, and increase efficiency, but it's important for entrepreneurs to consider the potential impact on their workforce and be proactive in finding ways to upskill and retrain employees.
2. Sustainability and social responsibility: Consumers are increasingly aware of the environmental and social impacts of the products and services they consume, and are more likely to support businesses that prioritize sustainability and social responsibility. Entrepreneurs should consider how they can reduce their carbon footprint and make a positive impact in their communities.
3. Remote work: The pandemic has accelerated the trend towards remote work, and it's likely that many businesses will continue to embrace this flexible model even after the pandemic ends. Entrepreneurs should be prepared to support and manage remote teams effectively.
4. E-commerce and online retail: The shift to online shopping is unlikely to slow down anytime soon, and entrepreneurs should be prepared to compete in the digital marketplace. This means having a strong online presence and offering a seamless shopping experience for customers.
5. Cybersecurity: As more business is conducted online, it's important for entrepreneurs to prioritize cybersecurity and protect their and their customers' sensitive data. This includes implementing strong passwords and regularly updating security protocols.
6. Personalization: With so much competition online, businesses that can offer a personalized experience for their customers will stand out. This could involve using AI and machine learning to offer personalized recommendations or using customer data to tailor marketing and sales efforts.
7. Collaboration and co-working: As more people work remotely, there will be a growing need for collaboration and co-working spaces that provide a sense of community and support for entrepreneurs. Businesses that can offer these types of spaces or services will be in high demand.
8. Video content: With the rise of video conferencing and streaming platforms, video content will continue to be a key part of businesses' marketing and communication efforts. Entrepreneurs should consider how they can incorporate video into their content strategies.
9. Diversification: The pandemic has highlighted the importance of diversifying both products and revenue streams. Entrepreneurs should consider how they can broaden their offerings and find new sources of income to protect their businesses in times of uncertainty.
10. ChatGPT: ChatGPT is a new artificial intelligence tool that allows businesses to generate human-like text in real-time. This can be used for a variety of purposes, including customer service, content creation, and even sales. Entrepreneurs should consider how ChatGPT could benefit their business and how they can integrate it into their operations.
Not bad.
I can’t say I’m surprised by this list, though as we enter 2023, I am comforted by it because my own business Podopolo is on point with each of these 10 trends.

What about your business?
At Podopolo, AI has always been at the heart of our innovation in podcasting, and we’re always seeing new ways we can leverage it beyond how we’ve already been using it to revolutionize podcast discovery and discussion. It works like a ‘matchmaker’ for us, surfacing perfect listens matched to your interests, while connecting podcast hosts to their ideal audiences to grow their listening communities. It also provides creators with deep and actionable audience insights not available anywhere else so they can more easily monetize their podcasts and be more responsive to their growing audiences.
AI powers deep personalization, and ChatGPT’s trend #6 is one of my favorites because all people want to be truly seen and heard, with customized experiences that save them time and effort. One of Podopolo’s main features is the way it personalizes the podcast experience around individual interests, friendships, or other preferences like language and location.
Yet it can be delicate balance to deliver personalized experiences on a socially interactive app like Podopolo while avoiding the well-known detrimental effects of the “filter bubble” which has sown deep division in our society and paved the way for rampant disinformation and misinformation.
Our biggest challenge as a society and for entrepreneurs who want to leave the world in a better place than they found it is to use AI ethically – to empower and educate in a way that enhances people’s lives and brings us together.
This is our mission at Podopolo, and we’ve learned it requires the same effort to write algorithms that incentivize and reward positive and open-minded connection, collaboration, and a celebration of diversity and plurality as it is to write algorithms that incentivize and reward outrage and judgment in the name of “engagement”.
It comes down to a choice, and we know where we stand.
Protecting people’s privacy in an AI-powered world is also a choice. We believe privacy is a fundamental human right. That’s why we don’t track anyone across the web or sell anyone’s information, and have invested significant time and money to ensure the user information we need to deliver an enhanced personalized experience is fully protected.
Entrepreneurs have the power to change the world, and that’s why we’re also a committed social impact company. When you listen on Podopolo you automatically make a measurable positive impact on the planet around the UN Global Goals. Listened to 10 podcasts? We’ll plant a tree for you. We also partner with creators and advertisers to amplify this impact – and we’re committed to donating or investing 10% of our earnings each year to charities and entrepreneurs around the world using businesses for social good.
When I asked ChatGPT to share its top 10 trends for 2023, I had no idea Podopolo would check every box. We’re a 100% remote company. We’re leveraging e-commerce tools in the New Year to ensure all podcast hosts and creators can leverage multiple ways to enhance their earnings beyond advertising from the Podopolo app, via subscriptions for their premium content, including live interactive video streaming, e-courses, swag, NFTs and smart contracts.
And in such uncertain economic times, it makes sense to build as many revenue streams as you can, especially if each revenue stream is part of a force multiplying flywheel that helps grow each of the others. That is the foundation upon which Podopolo is built, with its “abundance” business model focused on ensuring everyone wins from every interaction with us.
Back now to ChatGPT itself, and all the ways to leverage it, including:
These are just a few ideas, and of course before we all fall into the rabbit hole, there are some challenges that may come up with ChatGPT including:
If you haven’t tried ChatGPT yet, make it one of your New Year’s Resolutions, and help the AI model improve too by providing your feedback so we can eliminate bias – gender, sexual orientation, race or any other form of bias – from its generative AI models. It’s important because more and more we will find ourselves relying on tools like this, raising many ethical questions, not least of which is how we can discern truth.
Wishing you a very Happy and prosperous 2023, full of love, laughter, abundance and gratitude.
