Life after JROC: What else is happening in Open Banking?
The Joint Regulatory Oversight Committee’s report was the biggest news in our sector for many months. Yet it’s not the only story in town, so here are some news, updates and announcements from our community.
Ladies & Gentlemen, Open Banking Pioneers,
The Open Banking Excellence (OBE) community has been eagerly awaiting the publication of the Joint Regulatory Oversight Committee (#JROC) report for what seems like an aeon. In April, JROC finally gave us a glimpse of the future of Open Banking and Open Finance in the UK. Read our summary blog to understand the full implications of the JROC report.
In the pre-JROC era, another very important report shone a light on the British financial technology ecosystem: The Kalifa Review of UK Fintech. We spoke to Sir Ron Kalifa to discuss why the UK Open Banking sector stands out internationally, identify regulatory best practices and explain why we must “shift our approach to reflect the needs of a maturing and increasingly competitive industry”. It’s a must-watch!
Of course, JROC is not the only news in our fast-moving industry. Read on to find out everything that has been happening in our community during April and what’s coming up as spring turns to summer …

Did you miss our VRP Campfire?
Everywhere we go, people are asking about VRP. What are the commercial models? How will liability work?
We tackled these important questions and many more at our Campfire in April, featuring a very revealing fireside chat with Raffaele Brusco , Senior API Growth Manager leading VRP commercialisation at the NatWest Group (a bank that’s a true VRP pioneer). Catch up on all the fiery debates of our #VRP Campfire.

Gender diversity is an unsolved challenge for fintech and Open Banking. Our #passthemic is addressing the issue by shining a light on the inspiring women working in our sector.
We’re asking both men and women to encourage the female talent around them to step forward and let their voices be heard.
Together, we can make a difference.💜
And it’s what belonging to a community is all about…
