Life Begins At Retirement, Really!

Before my own retirement late last year, I used to be so scared and unsured of what life would be on the other side, so to speak. People kept telling me that there's nothing worse than retirement, like a death sentence or, at best, life in imprisonment. My wife kept telling to start looking for something to do, if not I would, to use her words, "rot in my rocking chair facing certain death from brain degeneration or other unmentionable horrors like Alzheimer's disease and dementia." In the last 6 months before my actual retirement, my anxiety and trepidation kept growing until, well, my retirement.

Like a new dawn after a dark night, my life really began after my retirement. Thank you to my dear friend, Michael Sypsomos, who was brave enough to give me the opportunity to join his Consultancy/Coaching firm as a Project Management Coach, I'm now having the best times of my life doing all the things I love and dream about doing for all along. In addition to project management work, I'm also enjoying doing team-building facilitation, expanding my network on social media, generating new business opportunities, writing articles and posts, and coaching people from all walks of life, to name a few. Truthfully, I just can't wait to get out of bed in the morning to start my day's work. From a TGIF, now I'm a TGIM (Thank God It's Monday) person.

From a large corporation with a strict command-and-control culture to a small and totally empowered work environment, I'm thriving and couldn't be any happier! Thank God for retirement. Life is indeed so much better on the other side!

Note: To those of you who are still working toward your retirement, please do NOT spend even one minute feeling anxious or dreadful about your retirement. As the song says, "Don't Worry - Be Happy!" To those past retirement, please let me know your thoughts and experience too.
