A LIFE CHANGING BOOK WHICH WILL LEAD YOU TO SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS ENTITLED 'PHILOSOPHY OF AN UNKNOWN PROFESSOR'

SOME IMPORTANT SENTENCES (OUT OF HUNDREDS OF SENTENCES IN THE WHOLE BOOK) FROM MY RECENTLY PUBLISHED LIFE CHANGING BOOK ENTITLED 'PHILOSOPHY OF AN UNKNOWN PROFESSOR'

Author- Professor Suvasish Mukhopadhyay

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

i) I never listened to my brain but always listened to my heart due to which on both the fronts (academic and life), I am the happiest person. I might not have earned millions of dollars, but what I earned is something special. It is not an easy task to earn it. That is very difficult. I earned satisfaction. My soul is satiated and even if I die today, I will have no regret of not exploring my choicest fields. How many people can claim that? I married a girl whom I loved and I pursued the profession of teaching which I loved the most. What more should I expect?

ii) I had to adjust the sail of the boat of my life time to time in different angles in different stages so that I cannot be detached from my study.

iii) I found in city life people discussing prices of their apartments. But, it is utter foolishness. Your apartment where you stay can be compared with your body parts e.g. heart, lungs and kidneys. Can you sell your kidneys? The answer is a straight cut NO. Because without kidneys, you cannot survive. The same is the case with your apartment or residence. You cannot sell it, then where will you stay? But the so-called people do not understand this simple thing and they go on discussing prices of their apartments.

iv) If you compare the word relationship with a necklace and each person with a precious stone, then love is the string which holds all these people together.

v) In this world, there are two types of personalities. One is a pretty personality and the second one is a pleasing personality. A pretty personality can be achieved by visiting a beauty parlour, but no beauty parlour of the world can add a pleasing personality to a human being; because it comes from within.

vi) Now-a-days, people who go for Ph.D. need to clear a subject called research methodology. He is the biggest idiot who added this subject to the course work of Ph.D. Can there be any method in research? Do you think Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein followed some methods for their research? Certainly not.

vii) Success is inversely proportional to the number of mistakes and wrong decisions taken by a human being. The person who does not commit a single mistake and takes all decisions correctly becomes the most successful person in society. Remember, success does not depend on hard work; it depends on smart work and your thought process. If you try to open a lid of a bottle and apply pressure to the opposite direction, despite opening; it will be tighter. So, one must know in which direction pressure has to be applied.

viii) Expectation - Reality = Depression

Reality - Expectation = Euphoria

ix) There is a famous proverb. They say during birth and death a person becomes alone. I would say that there are two more times when you become alone and they are examination and illness. When a patient is terminally ill due to diseases like fourth stage cancer or AIDS or Corona attack, do you think he/she gets company? Never.

x) If we compare a human body with a balloon, the soul can be compared to the air within the balloon. Without air, a balloon does not have any existence or beauty. It is just a small piece of rubber. The same is the case with any living creature.

xi) A major cross-section of the children in our country go to schools not for education, but for mid-day meal.

xii) Suppose in a class there are ten girls and forty boys. After leaving the school even after thirty years all the boys will remember the names of most of the girls, but seldom will they remember the names of all the boys. It is natural, because the interest of boys lies within girls only. So, whenever there is true interest memory is not required. It becomes automatically embedded and ingrained in your brain.

xiii) Ordinary people think twice before consuming the second ice-cram after consuming one. Never think of it. Have three ice-creams one after another. Note one thing, by spending for ice-cream you can never be poor; men become pauper for diseases and costly treatments.

xiv) I found people touching the feet of God, but I do not do so. I place a gentle kiss at the forehead of God. Is it not a new concept? But you too adopt that. There must be a relation of love and affection between you and God. Treat your God as one of your family members. Then all the fear will vanish and you will accept him easily.

xv) The sex of men can be compared with heating and cooling of a metal. Any metal becomes hot quickly at the same time it becomes cool quickly, because the specific heat of metal is much less, though the said subject comes under the chapter of Heat in physics. But, in the case of ladies, sexual urges grow slowly and reduce slowly. Their sexual behaviour can be compared with heating and cooling of water because the specific heat of water is approximately ten times more than metals (e.g. Specific Heat of Copper is 0.09 and Specific Heat of water is 1.0). So, a man needs to synchronize properly with his partner, otherwise due to lack of time management he will ejaculate before his partner gets ready to accept him. Only due to this reason, there are millions of divorces and separations across the world. So both the partner must understand each other.

xvi) I found that on Saturdays, people visit the SANI (Saturn) temple and the whole temple gets flooded with pouring of the oil but for the rest of the six days hardly any visitors are there. Because that visit and rituals on Saturdays are mostly out of fear. Once I visited a Maruti temple on Monday. The Maruti was starving for two days and there was not a single iota of prasad (ambrosia for him) and I felt very sad. I gently kissed Maruti on his cheek and then offered him a rose garland and offered him some sweets. Though God does not eat like us, but I felt very soothing internally. If God would have eaten like us, we would have compared God with beggars.

xvii) So, what is a nation? It is nothing but an open jail for you. You cannot cross the border of your country without fulfilling the basic criteria of having a valid passport and a visa.

xviii) Have you ever asked yourself, “Why should there be so many lines on a map?” Remember, they are only on the map, not on the surface of the earth.

xix) Ego is associated with human civilization right from the childhood of a person. For example, when a small boy cries, just tell him, “Don’t cry like a girl.” Immediately, he will stop crying, because by saying so, you have ignited the hidden male ego within that boy and in this way, ego is sprouted right from childhood.

xx) Remember one thing; right from a vice chancellor to a primary school teacher all are in teaching profession and all must be respected equally. But in society, we respect only the vice chancellor, not a primary school teacher. For society, a profession becomes insignificant and a post becomes significant and that is the most unfortunate thing.

xxi) The basic thing which we need is clarity in our thoughts. There are many wrong programmes which are fed in our brain. Often we say ‘The shirt became small.’ The shirt never becomes small, the child wearing it grows. So it is a relative term. We say the sun sets. But the sun never sets; it is the earth which sets.

xxii) If you know swimming it does not matter whether water is 10 feet deep or 10000 feet deep. Because, ultimately you are swimming on the surface. But common people are afraid of depth. If you really know swimming, depth does not matter at all.

xxiii) But, in the Bhagwad Geeta, it is said, “Keep on working, do not expect result.”I do not support this statement of the Bhagwad Geeta. It is said just like Gandhi’s Ahinsha. Since you cannot fight, for that you adopted the path of non-violence. My question is that if I sow seeds, I must have saplings after some days. Why I must not expect after the hard work? It is said in the Bhagwad Geeta just to console you. I often hear people saying in Hindi, “JO HUA ACHHE KE LIYE HUA.” That means whatever happened, it happened for good. Now you tell me, if you face a major accident or face a gum cancer will you say the same thing? Certainly not.

xxiv) It is always preferred to be a pauper by own decision than to be a king by other’s decision.

xxv) “A girl is her father’s property and a father is his son’s property.”

xxvi) I found people visiting religious places like Shirdi and Tirupati before examination, before marriage and before any critical operation. Only during the days of distress, we remember God but those religious places are so over-crowded that after standing in a queue for 7-8 hours, you get an opportunity to see your God. But the local management does not even allow you to stand there for 7-8 seconds. So why to visit these religious places?

xxvii) In Maharashtra, there are many sugar mills and most of the owners of those sugar mills are highly diabetic. Being the owner of a sugar mill, they cannot have a spoon of sugar. What can be a bigger tragedy than this?

xxviii) In this world, you cannot hide a few things and they are pregnancy, smell of liquor and truth.

xxix) Whenever you visit a tourist spot like a hill station or a beach, you find a group of people rushing from one corner to another with their DSLR and continuously busy in capturing photographs. They are obsessed with their cameras. I can tell you the history and end of these photo sessions. From DSLR, they will go to laptop, then from laptop it will go to a Pen Drive and then they will be shared on Facebook and people will like them without seeing it and the person who took photographs will be happy beyond measure for the 200+ likes but the saddest part is that he himself did not see those photographs. What can be a bigger tragedy than this?

xxx) The universe is always forgiveful. You may throw stones at a mountain, but the mountain does not care. It bounces back. In the lap of the universe, I or you are even less than a droplet of water. Sometimes, foolish people think they have conquered the Everest. It is not their credit. It is a mercy of weather that allowed them to reach the peak of the Everest. You may be very serious while conquering a mountain peak but does the peak know about your seriousness? The universe just allows you to have a prank with it. And by conquering the peak of the Everest, entire life you keep on repeating that. If you failed to attain the peak of the Everest, what would have happened? Nothing would have happened. All these ventures are done for satisfying one’s ego. What is there in the Everest? From distance, it looks very beautiful, but once you reach the peak, it becomes useless. Behind every mountaineer, there is a big history of ego. For common people, ego is just like a shell of an egg. It protects you from outside attacks.

xxxi) There are basically two types of people - poor and rich. But both are miserable. No one is happy. Only the difference is that a poor miserable person dreams to be a rich miserable person. The difference is peculiar. For a poor person, the question is that wherefrom food will come? But for a rich miserable person the question is; foods are there but who will eat them? What a classic contradiction!

xxxii) There is a very common English saying, ‘Beware of dogs’, but I would like to say if you really love dogs, they will never bite you. In place of writing ‘Beware of dogs’, we should write ‘Be aware of dogs.’ If you really become aware of dogs, you will never be afraid of dogs. The so-called elite class feels pride in writing ‘Beware of dogs’ on gates of their bungalows. But, this is utter foolishness.

xxiii) In today’s world, we seldom see proper love affairs. Now-a-days, what we see is nothing but mutual adjustment. Love can only take place in teen ages, not at thirties. At thirties, what we see is nothing but mutual compatibility. At thirty, two people see their mutual benefits from each other. For them professional matching is more important than real love. They want joint earning for smooth sailing. With a matured brain, love cannot take place. People say fall in love. Why will you fall in love? You must rise in love.

xxxiv) I have nothing to give you. I can only ignite a dormant spark within you which is in deep slumber due to lack of motivation. My work is only to ignite the dormant power; rest of the things will take place automatically. My role is to convert a sliding friction to rolling friction. That is enough to boost your inner power. Afterwards, you will automatically role and gain momentum with each passing minute. For creating fire you don’t need fire, what you need is just a spark. And I will be that spark in your life.

xxxv) When I joined this profession, my age was twenty-seven years and the age group of students was 18-22. Now, I am fifty-seven and the age group of students remains the same. Then I was friendly but now I am fatherly. With each passing year, the gap between students’ age group and my age increased by one year but since it happened uniformly, slowly and steadily, I seldom realized that when I crossed thirty mile stones of my life.

xxxvi) Iron is the cheapest material and gold is one of the most costly materials though a man can survive his whole life without gold but without the help of an iron, you cannot survive. Right from utensils to railway track everywhere iron is used. The conclusion is that we respect them who hate us and ignore them who love us. This is the biggest tragedy of human civilization.

xxxvii) But the fundamental truth is that whenever you want to be something else than you, that becomes the greatest hypocrisy and idiocy. In this world, every personality is different and unique. You are just like a bar code. No two bar codes in this world are same. Similarly, no two human beings are same or can be same.

xxxviii) No God is symbolized by any animal. All the idols are idols of human beings, because God is created by man. Secondly, you will rarely find an ugly looking God. All Gods and Goddesses are very fair and good looking, because while creating idols, the man poured his imagination in it. The potter may be a person with an ordinary look but while preparing idols, he must have tried his best to make God as beautiful as possible.

xxxix) Sex is a function of the body and love is a function of the soul.A
