Be Light

Be Light

If we are going to turn our secular nation around, it will have to start with God’s own people. 1 Peter 4:17-18: “For it is time for judgment to begin with God’s household; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?” Jesus said to the church, Matthew 5:14: “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.” Each day we are living tributes for the Kingdom of God to those in the world who do not yet have the light. Jesus continued Matthew 5:16: “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Our assignment is to shine our light and conquer the spirits of darkness, leading unbelievers to the saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. Our “light” overcomes this world's darkness and the devil's schemes. We truly are at war for the soul of our nation, and if we all do our part, there will be a return to honoring Almighty God. King David said, Psalm 68:1-3: “May God arise, may His enemies be scattered, And may those who hate Him flee from His presence. As smoke is driven away, so drive them away; As wax melts before a fire, So the wicked will perish before God. But the righteous will be joyful; they will rejoice before God; Yes, they will rejoice with gladness”. You may think this is a harsh verse, but the Scripture is consistent. Those who reject God shall perish before God because He is carrying out His purpose of reversing the effects of evil and sin in the world. The apostle Paul tells all believers how to be strong in the Lord and His mighty power, Ephesians 6:11-12: “Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” That message places every spiritual weapon needed in the hands of Christians. If Christians unify, shining the light of Jesus will remove the prince of darkness from our schools, work, and government. 1 Timothy 6:12: “Fight the good fight of faith; take hold of the eternal life to which you were called, and for which you made the good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” The Scripture is also clear that God’s children are His top priority. In loving-kindness, God provides for us, heals us, restores us, and delivers us. 1 John 1:7: “But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us from all sin.” When we walk in the light: goodness, knowledge, wisdom, grace, and hope remain with us. God promises that nothing can come between His love and us. Nothing!
