⭐️Like A Boss⭐️

⭐️Like A Boss⭐️

To begin this article I would like to share that I recently finalized a difficult decision to leave my career long employer and relocate my family back to our home state to begin a new professional journey. This information is pertinent to the enclosed message I am writing as during the process of closing the book on a career long business marriage to start a new career relationship I have reflected on what core areas paved my success. These core areas, which I call the "Like A Boss" Rules, will be key for my next step and I know correlate to all management leaders both current or prospective.

My management background is that of a proven business leader who has worked for a multifaceted services company starting with an entry-level position during college and after graduation was promoted multiple times including senior level roles in various New England states. My professional results have been recognized with 7 Fiscal Year Exceptional Achievement Awards over my 18+ year career with the same organization so my take on the "Like A Boss" rules comes with a track record of success leading diverse organizational workforce sizes, job classifications, and demographic profiles.

"Like A Boss" rules:

The title "Relationship Manager" is not listed on many resumes or job descriptions but is a truly fitting title for the "Like A Boss" rules of engagement. The concept is simple; the role of management at any level is to build business relationships comprised of tranquility, reciprocity, integrity, cooperation, and mutual respect with a shared buy in towards the organizational vision. As a manager at any level your ability to bring people together in competitive and non-competitive arenas during turbulent and triumphant times offer a unique value proposition to your current or future firm. I can promise you that focusing on the "Like A Boss" core management skills and leaderships traits below will serve as a road map to managerial leadership success within any industry.

Core Managerial skills to highlight on a resume and execute on the job:

Planning: Those in management roles must hone the ability to plan action or review for the future.

Organizing & Coordinating: Managers must be able to connect human and business resources together in an established system and coordinate and staff in such a way that the company’s goals can be reached quickly and efficiently.

Commanding:Those in leadership roles must be able to determine next steps for every situation, and to delegate related tasks to employees as needed.

Controlling: A set of strong management skills includes the ability to control and review business models and check progress along the way to accomplishing a goal. Management skills are vast and ever-increasing, but most surround these underlying principles.

Top 10 Leadership traits:

1. Communication - As a leader, you need to be able to clearly and succinctly explain to your employees everything from organizational goals to specific tasks.

2. Motivation - Leaders need to inspire their workers to go the extra mile for their organization; just paying a fair salary to employees is typically not enough inspiration (although it is important too).

3. Delegating - Leaders who try to take on too many tasks by themselves will struggle to get anything done. Often fear that delegating tasks is a sign of weakness, when in fact it is a sign of a strong leader.

4. Positivity - A positive attitude can go a long way. You should be able to laugh at yourself when something doesn't go quite as planned; this creates a healthy workplace, during busy, stressful periods.

5. Trustworthiness - Employees need to be able to feel comfortable coming to their manager with questions & concerns. Employees will only trust leaders they respect.

6. Creativity-As a leader, you have to make a number of decisions that do not have a clear answer; you therefore need to be able to think outside of the box. Learning to try nontraditional solutions, or approaching problems in nontraditional ways, will help you to solve an otherwise unsolvable problem.

7. Feedback-Leaders should constantly look for opportunities to deliver useful information to team members about their performance. However, there is a fine line between offering employees advice & assistance, & micromanaging. By teaching employees how to improve their work & make their own decisions, you will feel more confident delegating tasks to your staff.

8. Responsibility-A leader is responsible for both the successes & failures of his or her team. Therefore, you need to be willing to accept blame when something does not go correctly..

9. Commitment-It is important for leaders to follow through with what they agree to do. Be willing to put in the extra hours to complete an assignment; employees will see this commitment & follow.

10. Flexibility - Mishaps and last-minute changes always occur at work. Leaders need to be flexible, accepting whatever changes come their way. Employees will appreciate your ability to accept changes in stride and creatively problem-solve.

Andrew, I have a great appreciation for your insight. I feel like a lot of times where the disconnect comes into play when upper management( beyond your position) has been so far removed from the day to day operations, they would prefer to run the business as if they were still entry level management trainees. You must change with the business climate of today in order to stay relevant. You are great leader. I have nothing but respect for you and your achievements. Best of Luck in your future endeavors.
