LinkedIn China Connections and Followers of John D. Evans – SEIML

As of 17 October 2021, I had over 40,000 Connections and Followers on LinkedIn (LI) and ‘about 8,600’ were listed as resident in China. Given the announcement by Microsoft last Thursday, I fear I am at risk of losing engagement with many of these people and I consider that a great shame. I have been active on LinkedIn since 2008 and use it exclusively for B2B engagement with a focus on connecting start-up and SME businesses in China with similar businesses outside China (with the occasional gripe about Brexit).
However, as any entrepreneurial person knows, when one door closes you start knocking on another door; there is always an alternative. That is just another variation on Darwin’s immortal quote about adapting to an ever-changing world. To this end, I have set up a LI Group List in my email account reserved for (soon-to-be) former LI Connections or Followers. At the beginning of every day I will summarize all my posts on LI via email to anyone who would like to stay in touch.

This reduction of 8,600 Connections will again put me way under the 30K Connection limit I hit many years ago.
