Listen to the Voice of the Lord! This Pandemic is a flood that is sweeping across the earth like a tsunami over its victims!
In the Book of Isaiah, chapter 8 we read that there is going to be a flood that will sweep the lands because God’s people have rejected the pure waters of God and have partaken in the contaminated waters of the surrounding nations. It speaks of those who knowing the truth have chosen to defile themselves because of their desire to satisfy their lust and greed and pride and arrogance. Contaminated waters can speak of compromise with things that are happening in these times, or acceptance of things that God in His Word has rejected, or to totally disregard what God says on anything and to accept what the current human understanding is concerning these things. God is angry with His people. Those who are supposed to stand firm on His Word and to declare His truth to the world around us, have allowed corruption of thoughts, ideas, technology and our own wisdom to prevail instead of trusting God and allowing His Word to be the final authority over our lives,
Isaiah 8:5-8 “The LORD spoke to me again: because this people has rejected the gently flowing waters of Shiloah and rejoices over Resin and the son of Remaliah, therefore the Lord is about to bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates – the king of Assyria with all his pomp. It will overflow all its channels, run over all its banks and sweep on into Judah, swirling over it, passing through it and reaching up to the neck. Its outspread wings will cover the breadth of your land, Immanuel!”
The Prophet Isaiah is speaking to those who know the Lord, who know His commands, yet choose to do what seems right in their own eyes. I believe that this pandemic that is sweeping through the world right now is a sort of judgment of God over the land and over His people. It is a call for those who know the Lord to get back on their knees and to intercede on behalf of themselves and the nations of the world. It is a judgment that has come over us because of our negligence regarding God and His Word. We have compromised what He has spoken and have accepted those things that He has rejected. We have chosen to call clean that which the Lord has called unclean. We call those things that God calls evil, good! We have embraced the worldly standards instead of injecting this world with the standard of God that He has already set for all mankind. We have left the pure waters of His Word and have gone to the world around us to partake of their waters and the things that sustain them.
Leaving the waters of Shiloah, speaks of abandoning that which God has provided for our growth, maturity and survival and choosing rather to partake of the waters of Resin. But not only have we partaken of it, we seem to enjoy it! This speaks to the fact that we continually partake of the waters of Resin. The more we partake of the worldly waters, the more the contamination and defilement of our lives, souls and spirits. Due to the fact that these people are enjoying the waters that contaminate their souls, God is going to bring a mighty flood against them. It is going to be so terrible that it is going to move through the lands of the earth, where ever God’s people are. It is going to move like a victorious army that defeats everything in its path. It will overflow its channels, and it will also run over all its banks. Sweeping on into Judah speaks about also affecting that which is supposed to be holy unto the Lord, but has be violated and corrupted by the ways of men!
But then we see the grace of God prevail towards the end of chapter 8. “Passing through it and reaching up to the neck…” While God will allow this crisis to touch all corners of the earth, He will not allow it to go higher than the neck. He will still allow us to breath and live. He will not entirely consume us because of His great mercy and compassion that weighs heavily on His heart. While neck deep speaks to the depths to which we may have sunk, the fact that the head is still above water means that the situation has not completely eradicated His people. He still gives us hope and a chance to breathe and to survive this onslaught of sin over His people. The question is, are we going to stay where we are or are we going to get out of the muck and mire of this sinful plague and return like the Prodigal son once more to the Father’s house. We all have that opportunity available to us. We can all go back and drink once more from the waters of Shiloah, and refuse to drink from the waters of Resin ever again!
