The Listener's Journey

The world of truck driver recruiting is fast paced. It's noisy. Our clients rarely have a moment to sit in silence and think through a problem. We work with some of the most brilliant, multi-tasking leaders in the world!

In a noisy world, we have to intentionally cultivate the art of listening to understand.

Ginger Craddock shares her experiences along her journey to be an artful and active listener.

"I realized what I was experiencing was substantially more than being heard. I felt understood. I felt that I had received empathy and compassion." - Ginger Craddock

Ginger is our Director of Client Success, a Career Coach and a great friend to everyone she meets! In order to thrive in all three of those roles, she continues to lean in to listen effectively. A practice that is honed one day at a time over a lifetime.

She recently described a past leader who helped her feel heard.

"He Listened to understand. No solutions were offered. No ideas were shared. No comments were made." - Ginger Craddock

"I realized in the moment I felt heard that I wanted to give the precious gift of being heard to each person I interact with. A gift of hearing which also demonstrates compassion, empathy, and understanding." she explained.

Below are a few patterns that Ginger cautions us to avoid. She's experienced these and other along her journey.

  1. Interrupting
  2. Offering an opinion before being asked
  3. Listening with "uh-huhs"

Communication is hard. The more people you add to a conversation, the more likely it is to be noisy, chaotic, and unproductive.

But good listening is worth the journey.

  • and so much more +++
