Literacy Laughs 🤣
Just for fun, here’s a round-up of our most popular literacy memes on Instagram!
Explicit instruction is essential to helping all students reach their literacy potential!
Implementation is definitely more like Weird Barbie 😂
Believe it or not, many teachers in our PD sessions have already sat through a year-long series on the science of reading, but still aren't sure how to change instruction. That's because implementation is a totally different ball game.
Our weekly PLCs are a more digestible way for teachers to access literacy strategies, receive support, and ultimately implement their learning with students.
In our weekly series, you get time to:
💡 learn evidence-based routines,
📝 adapt strategies to your classroom,
🫶🏻 collaborate with grade-level peers, and
🧠 work towards full implementation of literacy routines that align with the science of reading.
Here's what one teacher had to say about the experience:
This was an amazing PD. The length of time and the use of time was great! Would you like to deepen your understanding of how to move your readers from decoding to blending? Then this course is for you! Within four sessions, I have learned ways to differentiate decoding and blending for struggling readers as well as various ways to scaffold during my small group lessons. I am so excited to use all that I’ve learned to help my students learn the code to unlock the wonder world of reading!
Structured literacy is truly different from other instructional approaches because it’s based on evidence from cognitive science and education research! Taking the guesswork out of literacy instruction makes everything so much easier.
We just can’t help ourselves, okay? Please tell us we aren’t the only ones. 🤣
Here’s to never ever telling families that they need to read to their striving reader more often as a solution to reading difficulties. Reading to a child simply isn’t enough to help the brain form strong connections for reading.
We'll draw 25, but thanks. Once you know the research behind the reading brain, it's hard to believe you taught any other way!

📢 Attention university professors!
We have an exclusive opportunity that's perfect if you're wanting more ideas for your course syllabus to align it with the science of reading.
Join us this October and November for a six-week community of practice with other reading professors to learn more about teaching educator prep candidates about evidence-based literacy instruction.
Here’s what past participants had to say about this unique opportunity:
“I liked hearing from the other instructors what content they were adding to their courses and their justification for doing so. It is giving me a lot of great ideas for my own course.”
“There are so many valuable things that I will use. My class will be much more hands-on with students practicing the instructional techniques instead of me always doing the modeling.”
“This course helped me to wrap my head around strategies to help undergraduate students understand the big picture.”
Fall Community of Practice Details:
