The little things in life

The little things in life

The MongoDB.live user conference may be finished, but the fun continues! Of course the announcement of the 2022 user conference in the real world again made a lot of people smile, as did the launch of MongoDB 5.0 because of new features like versioned APIs, native time series support, Serverless Atlas (!) and many more. But in this short post (yes, I also promised a more detailed overview, working on that) I want to focus on the little things that make life easier, sometimes even a lot. So just highlighting two of these thingies:

  1. The new & fresh Atlas UI, making it easier to navigate and understand what is going on with your MongoDB clusters, Realm applications and Charts dashboard (I guess I don't need to mention that everything you can do in the Atlas UI can be automated using the Atlas API with your own scripts, or tooling like Terraform, k8s deployments and way more).

2. The search bar in the new Atlas UI, that helps you to directly start discovering your content after creating your search indexes! This really shortens the cycle again between designing, building and testing "how good it works" as soon and easy as possible. And then, when you are happy with the setup, take the next step and integrate full-text fuzzy search in your aggregation pipelines to run even more powerful data processing analytics.

So that's it! Two little things. And as you can see, sometimes there is a lot of value in those relatively small improvements. As said, more to come so stay tuned. In the meantime you can read up here, or watch the MongoDB.live sessions on demand.
