Interview with Marco Sansalone
I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Marco, the National Key Account Manager at Gi Group Holding Germany, to discuss his insights and experiences in the recruitment field.
Here are some of the key questions I asked him during our interview:
Recommended by LinkedIn
Dispelling the idea that the recruitment industry is not very emphatic. As for our GI GROUP, I can confirm that we are all a pretty cool bunch of people who have fun and enjoy what we do. Best of all, it's totally meaningful and fulfilling.
I am extroverted and love to connect with people. Maybe there are some who would say this is a necessary evil in the recruitment industry, but I love doing just that and paving the way for further relationships - every day.
It was clear from the start that I would have the opportunity to grow together with Gi Group Holding and I was able to develop from Senior Consultant to Key Account Manager together with a great team. The Gi Group has given me the possibility to develop professionally in a way that I also identify with personally.
I derive the most important key qualifications and trends from my discussions with clients in relation to recruitment and would say that two of the most important topics here are recurring organizational skills as well as knowledge of current regulations, standards and maintaining supply chains. In view of the current rapid pace of development, technological expertise is becoming an increasingly important topic.
In short, the search for specialists and workers for logistics positions faces the challenge of high competition for qualified talent - the so-called "war of talents". In addition, not everyone can keep up with the current progress and technological knowledge required for modern logistics processes, which in turn opens the door for many highly qualified top employees from other EU countries.
Current trends in logistics recruitment include an increased demand for professionals with expertise in e-commerce and last mile delivery to meet the demands of the booming online retail sector. At the same time, companies are increasingly looking for candidates who can make data-driven decisions to increase efficiency, optimize routes and reduce costs.
First and foremost, I am motivated by the fantastic team within our holding company. I also love the opportunity to bring people and companies together on a daily basis who are a perfect match but need a push to do so. I also appreciate the versatility of my work, constantly growing with new challenges and being confronted with different personalities and industries.
Logistics Innovations
As the logistics industry continues to evolve, it's clear that companies that embrace change, prioritize sustainability, and invest in innovation will be the ones to thrive in the future. From Rhenus Group's strategic expansion in Spain to DFDS's transcontinental venture in Türkiye, and from the adoption of eco-friendly shipping practices to the development of cutting-edge packing technologies, the industry is undergoing a profound transformation.
These developments not only reflect the changing demands of consumers and businesses but also underscore the critical role that logistics plays in driving global trade and economic growth. As we look ahead, it's exciting to imagine the possibilities that lie ahead for this dynamic and ever-evolving sector.
