As 2025 approaches, there’s one question that I’ve noticed crop up more and more: will this be the year generative AI truly lives up to its potential? For many businesses, the past couple of years have been more about testing the waters, rather than diving in. Next year, I think we’ll start to see a tangible shift in activity.  

But AI isn’t a simple solution - it’s a tool that needs thoughtful implementation, human oversight, and ethical considerations to make sure it’s used in ways that genuinely add value. 

At the heart of all this lies something less flashy but far more fundamental: data readiness. If 2024 has taught us anything, it’s that even the smartest tech is only as good as the data it works with. As businesses continue to lean on data to guide decisions, run campaigns, and predict trends, having clean, structured, and well-managed data will become non-negotiable.  

Data remains the foundation that everything else rests on – everything, from people, process, tech, to product and promotions – all require strong data to be optimised. Businesses that have been investing in organising and optimising their data in 2024 will be the ones unlocking real value in 2025, whether that’s powering AI-driven personalisation or simply making smarter decisions faster. 

For many, the challenge of ‘getting your data in shape’ can feel daunting, but it doesn’t have to be all or nothing. The key is taking small, manageable steps, whether that’s building better pipelines, cleaning up legacy systems, or focusing on the data that drives your most critical outcomes. We’ve noticed with our clients that these small wins add up quickly - and they’ll set you up to make the most of the exciting tools and opportunities ahead.
