In The Loop - September 2024

Welcome to our bumper September edition of 'In The Loop' from Loop Horizon.

Are you following the latest cookie compliance regulations? Matt Bentley has written a piece on the importance of tag and cookie compliance – as regulatory pressures around compliance grow further, we have some unique insight for you to help you stay ahead of the game.

Over the summer, our Marketing Services team have been hard at work putting together a series of Customer journey articles, focusing on a number of key customer lifestages. We’re kicking things off this month with a focus on the all-important Welcome journey. More on this from Owen Humphries below.

Kristina Kalpokaite has also included her top tips for a successful MarTech stack transformation. That’s not all - make sure to sign up for our upcoming CDP webinar on 9th October at 4pm BST. Enjoy!

At Loop Horizon, we take a keen interest in cookie / tag compliance, helping our clients adhere to regulatory requirements and to their own data privacy standards, to mitigate brand and regulatory risks.

Developments in late 2023 and early 2024 from the UK’s Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) – writing to 53 of the UK’s top 100 websites to warn of enforcement action if they did not make changes to their cookies to comply with data protection law – make this all-the-more relevant.Very few brands deliberately breach the rules - they are customer centric and want to do the right thing for their customers; but mistakes can creep in over time.

Prompted by this, we scanned over 160 homepages for brands who operate in the UK, covering the majority of the FTSE 100 and a range of other interesting brands and industry sectors.

Download our whitepaper to see the results of our scan and learn more about the current state of tag and cookie compliance in the UK.

You can also request a FREE tailored report to understand how your website compares, with a deep-dive into your tag and cookie compliance performance.  Just add your URL in the download form...

The role of a great customer comms journey is undisputed – it’s an integral part of a positive customer experience, keeping people engaged, loyal and coming back for more. With ever evolving CRM capabilities (both in Tech and Data), today’s customers expect more personalised, data-driven experiences than ever before.

That’s why we’re launching our ‘Customer Journey’ series, offering useful insights and common pitfalls across key stages of the customer lifecycle. To kick things off, we’ll be tackling the Welcome journey – we all know first impressions count, and getting this part right means you’ll set the tone for a long-lasting relationship.

Personalisation, data insights and strategic testing are just some of the key best practices that can boost retention from day one - by having a read of the article you can learn how these and more can all drive long-term engagement.

Your Toolkit To Navigating MarTech Stack Transformations: Top 10 To Do’s Across Technology, Data, People & Process

Ask any team who have just finished a large MarTech migration or completed a comprehensive platform deployment & they will likely say

“It was a success story. But by no means, an easy ride”

This was also my feeling, looking at a New-Technology MarTech stack I had crafted over 2.5 years – pitching it to the Board only a few weeks on the job. What questions would I have asked of my Technology Partners, Stakeholders and agencies and what had I done differently to prepare for those deployments and migrations, had I known what lies ahead?

After observing, questioning, drafting and doing, I have collated 4 sets of Top 10 To Do’s across Technology, Data, People & Process. Take them with you – make them your own – there will be more to add, but it will be a good place to start. These sets include:

  1. Assessing your data state & readiness, identifying your data requirements, sources & destinations.
  2. Mapping out the context for your new MarTech tools, to include fundamental integration requirements, potential limitations & platform RACI.
  3. Identifying key business stakeholders, core & extended teams to establish training & hiring plans & timelines.
  4. Methodically reviewing existing processes, as well as creating New-Technology driven ones.
