The Lost Art of Hustling: A Call to Action for the Millennial Generation
Rediscovering the Drive to Achieve Dreams and Seize Opportunities
Introduction:
As a world traveller and observer of human behaviour, I have noticed a stark contrast between the Millennial generation in the West and their counterparts in other parts of the world. The hustle and hard work that drove previous generations to success seem to be fading away. Today, I want to share my thoughts on why it is crucial for Millennials to rediscover their drive and seize the opportunities at their feet.
The Missing Drive:
While previous generations in the West were known for their hardworking and hustling spirit, the Millennial generation has lost sight of the importance of this drive. Instead, they appear to have developed a sense of entitlement and rely on support from previous generations. Furthermore, Millennials often look for easy options and expect 'handouts' without putting in the work, which is not only disheartening but also a testament to their misplaced sense of entitlement. This is not to say that every Millennial lacks ambition or motivation, but as a general trend, the fire seems to be dwindling.
The Distractions:
In today's fast-paced world, it's easy for young people to get swept up in non-essential activities, such as social media and politically driven movements that may not have a significant impact on their lives. These distractions can make it difficult for Millennials to focus on their goals and invest the time and effort needed to achieve them.
Lessons from the East:
When travelling to Asia and other global civilizations, it is impossible not to notice the hustle and drive that permeate all levels of society. From the woman selling chicken satay at a local street cafe to the taxi driver and the rice field labourers, everyone shares a common trait: they feel no entitlement and are willing to work hard for a better life. This work ethic, coupled with their unrelenting pursuit of dreams, is something that should inspire us all.

A Call to Action for Millennials:
The Millennial generation must up their game and step out of their comfort zone to appreciate the opportunities that lay before them. Complaining about wealth distribution and blaming politicians and the 1 % will not lead to success. Instead, it's time to roll up their sleeves and start hustling.
The 80/20 rule – the idea that 80% of outcomes result from 20% of causes – has been a constant in society, and it's unlikely to change. To become part of the successful 20%, Millennials need to shed their sense of entitlement, stop expecting handouts, and take responsibility for their futures.
Conclusion:
It's time for the Millennial generation to get over themselves and start hustling harder. Embracing the hardworking spirit of their global counterparts will open up a world of opportunities and help them achieve their dreams. The future is in their hands, but it's up to them to seize it. Let's make every day count and strive for a better tomorrow, together.
