LOVE MORE worry less

It's been a year. Today. 365 days have passed since that fateful day.

It is all still a mystery and may always feel that way for me. I've come to terms with this.

I've debated whether or not I wanted to share something today or just let the day pass. I'm doing my best to stay present and looking forward to a promising future. Circling back around to this situation has felt a bit off. Ignoring it doesn't feel right either.

So, I'll simply share what I've learned this year with the hope that it will help you remember who you are at your core and/or spark something new for you:

*As the saying goes, "Don't sweat the small stuff... it's all small stuff". Easier said than done when I keep sweating the small stuff.

*With purposeful intention & focused attention I will cultivate thoughts that serve my highest and best.

*My thoughts become action.

*My actions become habits.

*My habits become character.

*My character becomes my destiny.

(taken from the Mahatma Gandhi Quote)

* Worth stating again and in a slightly different way:

What I think about I bring about.

*For most of my 55 years here on earth, I've held the belief that I am never enough. In some ways, this has held me back. It's kept me playing small and in a dangerous game called "comparison". In other ways, this belief has served me extremely well. It's pushed me to be the best version of myself. It means that I am a lifelong learner and a light chaser.

*Not everyone is wired the same way. This is neither good nor bad. It just is.

*Loving people is one of the greatest experiences life has to offer. Whether for a reason, a season or a lifetime, relationships are here to help us see ourselves in divine light. Yes, even the crappy and crunchy relationships. Especially those.

*Let people love you. Let them love you more than you feel like you deserve.

*Trauma is the body's response to something that overhwhelms the brain's ability to cope.

*Trauma is a shock to our body, mind and spirit.

*There is no set formula for how (or when) trauma will show up in our lives. Our brain prioritizes "survival" (think fight or flight here) and therefore, our thoughts become confused, we experience unexplained physical sensations and emotional responses. This visceral response can (and often does) get stuck in your body and will create a separation within.

*We can heal that separation. We must heal that separation. I am committed to helping others integrate & heal their trauma and equally important, I know how.

*When we heal our trauma, our emotional age matches our chronological age. So basically, when you are faced with a difficult challenge, you will meet that situation head on, in the present moment, with full intellectual and emotional maturity (for where you are at) in that given moment. (Example: A 39 year old person can powerfully stand up to someone who is treating them poorly (a boss, a co-worker, a friend, a neighbor, a spouse) instead of being triggered by old wounds from say, their 6 yr, 13 yr or 19 yr old self.

*No matter how bleak and dire a situation feels, we can overcome fear and desperation when we allow God/Spirit/Universe to guide and bless us.

*You are amazing, my friends. Your love and support has meant the world to me. I humbly thank you and deeply appreciate you. Whether you are "just" a Linkedin connection, a lifelong friend, or someone inbetween, know that you've made a positive impact on my life.

*LOVE MORE worry less.
