Make This People Mistake - And Doom Your Company

Make This People Mistake - And Doom Your Company

Look at this picture. Everybody is happy, and it looks like a tight team.

But are they effective?

Are they productive?

Employee satisfaction surveys don't reveal the truth. Only engagement surveys do.

There's no correlation between happy employees and engaged employees.

And it always starts with recruiting the Right Person.

You would think that in 2024, employers already know how to identify the Right Person.

The Wrong Person

Sadly, this new report reveals that 60% of employers have terminated some of their Gen Z staff hired earlier this year.

What's the reason?

The discovered problems with the new employees!

Who's fault was that? The Gen Zs or the incompetence of the hiring managers and department?

The litany of ills of Gen Z quoted by employers indicates they don't have a system that specifies the attributes, traits, and skills required for the respective roles.

There's a simple solution - develop the Job Specifications for each role and employ (pun intended) proper recruitment and selection techniques that remove subjectivity. I call this Scientific Selection and developed a tool for this purpose - RiPeN.

It's All About People

It's a pity that corporate founders and CEOs have forgotten the lesson from Zig Ziglar from the 70s:

You don't build a business. You build people and people build the business.

Usually, founders are in love with their innovative product or service or process that will change the world and need to remember to focus on people.

The better mouse trap never takes off by itself.

McKinsey published this article recently - Achieving Hypergrowth: It's All About The People.

It's a timely reminder that it's always about the people.

When your people are engaged, your company performance is boosted

Gallup has measured this:

So, how do you go about engaging your people?

Deploy the 5Rights Formula:

  1. The Right Person
  2. The Right Training
  3. The Right Measurement
  4. The Right Coaching
  5. The Right Reward

Do all 5 and you will have a rockstar team with rockstar people.
