Maltreatment/Mistreatment of Internal Equity!
Internal equity means treating the employees equally in terms of salaries, benefits, career and learning opportunities regardless of gender, race, ethnicity and so on.
There is a downside of internal equity that I have observed in certain organizations where the policies and processes are not there and internal equity is applied to just formalize the process which takes to adhocism creating more room for unfairness and selective management approach. Some people get the benefit and the other are deprived of it.
Responsible managers make recommendations to the senior management and it is how the decisions are made. Ironically the senior management does not possess knowledge of the best practices and this lack of awareness about external equity leads to make wrong decisions.
The employees not only suffer in terms of not having the right salaries, benefits, career and learning opportunities but they go through a mental trauma. This badly impacts their mental health thus compromising their performance and productivity. The ultimate impact comes down to the organizational level which remains average in performance and growth.
Quiet quitting is very much there when the employees just do their work to maintain their jobs and they do not go extra mile in producing increased results.
The senior management and board should look into the overall performance matrix of the organization comparing with other organizations of similar nature, size and manifesto, otherwise it is a waste of resources especially human talent and loss of potential employees who dare step out of such organizations so as to prevent mental and intellectual suffering. For such employees their mental health, well being and self-esteem is important.

But they are already at career loss because they left their previous job and ignored other opportunities by joining the current employer with such kind of toxic culture. Such professionals not only suffer mentally, financially but also in terms of their career opportunities and growth.
It is a food for thought for the HR professionals, senior managers and board members. Those who are accountable of creating such adhocism, lack of internal equity and empathy should be taken to the task instead of being rewarded.
On the top of it such so called professionals are very clever and cunning and they kill the career of innocent people for gaining their instant financial and other benefits. It is happening in real world but unfortunately the senior managers are oblivious of it or they know but they deliberately remain silent to avoid further criticism and backlash for such happenings inside the organizations.
Such organizations never grow where the internal equity is mistreated and the people are rewarded based on the whims of professionally poor HR or other managers and others are penalized for no fault and their careers are compromised/ruined.
Then who is responsible and accountable?
