Management Lesson from Bhagavad Gita - Part II: Where Leaders can get Unlimited Courage to Lead

Alexander used to inspire thousands of his soldiers just with his heroic actions on the battlefield.

Setting the right example is a leader's prime responsibility - not just by words but also by thoughts and actions.

Krishna stated in BG that whatever actions people in the higher level of society, in organizations, or even at home perform the others will follow them. Society doesn't need lectures on values but examples of values in leaders whom they love to follow.

So Arjun instead of running away from his duty of fighting on the battlefield must fight and win. Leaders under every condition must gain the right courage by doing their duty and not by running away from it. This gives leaders inexhaustible reserves of energy only for themselves to stand tall but for others to lead them on the right path.

As a leader of your team or department are you setting exemplary standards by your work ethics and integrity to lead the team?

It is not rare that senior leaders within an organization to fall from grace because they couldn't perform according to the moral standards set by people or roles. But whoever could set the right examples have gone in history as heroes like Gandhi, Lincoln, Mandela, and many more.

Jim Collins in his book Build to Last summarized effective leadership as an impact where they are ready to become an instrument and happy to serve as servants.

Who is the leader whose actions are influencing you and whom all are getting influenced by your actions and following you?
