Mantras
Written 2.29.24
I’ve been thinking a lot about my mindset, and my ‘soulset’. I’ve endured quite a lot of difficulties, pain, and painful experiences, and I always seem to land on my feet when it comes to remaining hopeful.
Sure I’ve had my bad days, because pain hurts, and difficult times are frustrating. But I’ve always known that my best days are ahead. It’s actually not something I’ve known, but something I’ve discovered. What you know and believe can be taken away from you with a new discovery.
I’m surely not a ‘hopeless romantic blind optimist,’ but I take the promises of God to heart, and I have the faith to believe that what He’s promised is true. He’s God, He’s everything that is good. He’s incapable of lying. He’s a covenant keeping God; everything He’s promised shall come to pass.
Life can be hard at times, and sometimes we can get stuck on a treadmill of patterns, akin to a ‘Negative Cyclical Hamster Wheel’.
It begins when we think about the bad aspects of a situation, or the worst case scenarios that haven’t even happened yet. Those thoughts trigger our emotions, which trigger more thoughts, that trigger more emotions and anxiety. Often, this sequence becomes stuck on repeat to the point that it snowballs so fast out of control that it all comes out our mouths — it affects our words.
Our words have power. Think about it. When God created the universe He spoke it into existence with His words. Have you ever been cheered up by someone who just said the right words from their heart that made you feel so much better? Or perhaps they gave you some irrefutable wisdom that changed the perspective of your dilemma. Maybe you’ve encouraged someone with your words and made an impact. Those who know me are aware that I have an affinity for words; and this is why. They are powerful. So powerful in fact, that when spoken, they can change our own minds, and calm our souls.
Change your mindset, change your soulset.
The discovery that my best days are ahead of me and not behind me, is a mantra that has guided my life in going from success to success and from failure to failure without a loss of enthusiasm. Just keep going, try again, you’re almost there.
What are some of the most revered mantras you cling to?
Below are some of my other favorite mantras when life gets hard:
“This moment is preparing me for something amazing that hasn’t happened yet.”
