The MARECHAL® Story

The MARECHAL® Story

Marechal’s story starts in 1952.

Mr Gilles Maréchal, the founder of Marechal Electric, had working experience as an electrical specialist in an industrial and workshop environment.

After having witnessed a colleague accidentally disconnect a connector on load, with fatal consequences, he vowed and declared to never allow that on his watch again. His mission was to create an industrial electrical connector that exceeded all expectations in terms of operator safety.

An innovative technology, the only one of its kind in industrial electrical connections, was born out of this tragedy.

Mr Maréchal set about designing our flagship product, the DECONTACTOR™ - an electrical connector that combines the functionality of a connector and a switch.

DECONTACTOR™ = plug + socket-outlet + integrated switch

Users, whether electrically skilled or not, could now disconnect – under load – up to 250A.

In addition, the MARECHAL® DECONTACTOR™ (in fact the entire Marechal product offering) is fitted with silver-nickel tipped butt contacts. This not only reduces wear-and-tear inside the plug, but improves contact quality and performance, directly impacting energy consumption.

SAFETY was the founding principal of the Marechal Electric Group in 1952, and has continued to be our # 1 priority.

To be exactly correct, he does invent the butt-style-contact, which use the same silver-nickel tip technology of the isolator switch and fit them into a socket outlet, the decontactor was born in the early 50's. here one of the first cutaway drawing
