The writing process is one of the most important parts of a successful business. You need to be able to write copy that resonates with your audience and gets them to take action in some way.
While this may not seem like an easy task, there are many tips and tricks that can help you improve your writing skills so that it becomes easier for you as well!
𝕋𝕚𝕡 𝟙: 𝕂𝕖𝕖𝕡 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕔𝕠𝕡𝕪 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕣𝕥 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕥𝕠 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕡𝕠𝕚𝕟𝕥.
While you may be tempted to fill up a page with words, consider this: people are busy and time is money. Most of us only have a small amount of time to read each day, so make it count!
𝕋𝕚𝕡 𝟚: 𝕌𝕤𝕖 𝕒 𝕙𝕠𝕠𝕜 (𝕖𝕞𝕠𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟𝕒𝕝 𝕥𝕣𝕚𝕘𝕘𝕖𝕣) 𝕥𝕠 𝕘𝕣𝕒𝕓 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕒𝕦𝕕𝕚𝕖𝕟𝕔𝕖'𝕤 𝕒𝕥𝕥𝕖𝕟𝕥𝕚𝕠𝕟.
A hook is a sentence that grabs the attention of your reader. It can be emotional, or factual, or even both. A good hook will also be memorable, so it's important to choose one that will make them want to read on.
Hooks can be used at any point in your content but we recommend starting with something like "What's the best way to...?" or "How do I..."
where you're giving them enough information so they know what they'll learn next. Then you can use questions and statistics as hooks too!
𝕋𝕚𝕡 𝟛: 𝔸𝕣𝕠𝕦𝕤𝕖 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕕𝕖𝕣’𝕤 𝕔𝕦𝕣𝕚𝕠𝕤𝕚𝕥𝕪.
When you write for your readers, it’s important to keep in mind that they are not passive readers. They want to feel as though they are being led on a journey and that there is something at stake for them and for you as the writer.
Creating a sense of curiosity can help drive this feeling throughout your copywriting. A good way to do this is by using curiosity gaps (also known as “hooks”) in your writing.
These small words or phrases draw attention to what lies ahead in the article or blog post. You might use them:
As an opener:
“Where did they go? What happened? Who was behind it all? The answers will shock you…”
As a close:
“You won't believe who did this! And here's how we found out who did it…

To create an engaging, memorable and effective piece of copy, think about your audience’s needs and desires. What do they want? What do they need? How can you help them get what they want? When writing copy for digital or print marketing campaigns,
This means telling stories that are relevant to your audience stories that are brief and concise but also have a point (or points). Think of them as mini-reports on how your product or service can benefit them in their own lives.
Use these tips from writing expert Stephen King: “A good writer is someone who tells us things we already know but don't remember because he has made it new again."
𝕋𝕚𝕡 𝟞: 𝔻𝕠𝕟'𝕥 𝕓𝕖 𝕒𝕗𝕣𝕒𝕚𝕕 𝕥𝕠 𝕦𝕤𝕖 𝕙𝕦𝕞𝕠𝕣 𝕚𝕟 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕔𝕠𝕡𝕪.
Humor can be a great way to make your audience feel comfortable and at ease. It can also help you connect with them on a deep level, which helps create trust in the relationship between you and your reader.
Humor should never be used as an attempt to sell something or make someone else look bad. If anything, humor should be used as a means of reinforcing what’s already going on in the copy
It should help demonstrate how great or useful your product or service really is!
𝕋𝕚𝕡 𝟟: 𝔹𝕖 𝕣𝕖𝕝𝕒𝕥𝕒𝕓𝕝𝕖 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕚𝕟𝕔𝕝𝕦𝕕𝕖 𝕣𝕖𝕒𝕝-𝕝𝕚𝕗𝕖 𝕖𝕩𝕒𝕞𝕡𝕝𝕖𝕤 𝕚𝕟 𝕪𝕠𝕦𝕣 𝕔𝕠𝕡𝕪.
Relate to the reader's life.
Relating to your audience is the best way to get them on board with your brand and products. You can do this by using real-life examples, or even making up an example of your own if you're feeling creative.

Write short, punchy sentences that are easy to understand. Use a hook (a word or phrase) that will stand out and grab your reader's attention so they can't stop reading.
Keep your copy positive and focused on the benefits of what you're selling, rather than what you're not selling. You want potential customers to be able to feel excited about buying from you instead of annoyed or confused by how much information they're getting in one place.
Use humor whenever appropriate; it's always good for making people laugh! Humor also makes them feel more relaxed while they're reading.
This helps with comprehension as well as makes them more susceptible to purchasing whatever product/service has been advertised (which is exactly what we want).
