On December 8, 2024, renowned Chinese artist Cai Guo-Qiang presented his drone and fireworks show, "Red Sail," in his hometown of Quanzhou, Fujian Province. During the performance, numerous drones unexpectedly fell into the water, causing alarm among spectators. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Reports indicate that a backup drone equipped with a camera was deployed to capture the event without prior notification to public security authorities. This oversight led officials to mistake it for an unidentified drone intrusion, prompting the activation of interference equipment. Consequently, the performing drones experienced disruptions, resulting in their descent into the water.
