Matthew Chapter 9 Part 4 The Blind See, The Religious Leaders Don’t!
All Music Used is the Sole Property Of The Churches and Performers, I would invite you to attend one of these Institutions and enjoy, and get to sing this wonderful GOD Honoring Music.
In this lesson we look at the final portion of Matthew Chapter 9, and though the Blind Men is a message I have taught on from Luke, Matthew’s recollection adds a witness to just when they saw, as well as the reaction of the Church Leaders.
As we enter Chapter 10 next the conflict with the Religious Leadership will only grow more hostile, NO Matter what great works are done.

Ps 1:1 ¶ How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night.
3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers.
4 ¶ The wicked are not so, But they are like chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, Nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knows the way of the righteous, But the way of the wicked will perish.

First Reading
1st Samuel 16:3 "You shall invite Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you shall do; and you shall anoint for Me the one whom I designate to you."
4 So Samuel did what the LORD said, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the city came trembling to meet him and said, "Do you come in peace?"
5 He said, "In peace; I have come to sacrifice to the LORD. Consecrate yourselves and come with me to the sacrifice." He also consecrated Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 ¶ When they entered, he looked at Eliab and thought, "Surely the LORD'S anointed is before Him."
7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."
8 Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, "The LORD has not chosen this one either."
9 Next Jesse made Shammah pass by. And he said, 'The LORD has not chosen this one either."
10 Thus Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. But Samuel said to Jesse, "The LORD has not chosen these."
11 And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are these all the children?" And he said, "There remains yet the youngest, and behold, he is tending the sheep." Then Samuel said to Jesse, "Send and bring him; for we will not sit down until he comes here."
12 So he sent and brought him in. Now he was ruddy, with beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. And the LORD said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is he."
13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon David from that day forward. And Samuel arose and went to Ramah.

Matthew 6:9 ¶ And Jesus said "In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come. Your will be done On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
Christian What Do You Believe?
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord,
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost,
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried:
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
And sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The Holy Catholic Church;
The Communion of Saints;
The Forgiveness of sins;
The Resurrection of the body,
And the Life everlasting.
Amen.

Mt 9:1 ¶ Getting into a boat, Jesus crossed over the sea and came to His own city.
2 And they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. Seeing their faith, Jesus said to the paralytic, "Take courage, son; your sins are forgiven."
3 And some of the scribes said to themselves, "This fellow blasphemes."
4 And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, "Why are you thinking evil in your hearts?
5 "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up, and walk'?
6 "But so that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" --then He *said to the paralytic, "Get up, pick up your bed and go home."
7 And he got up and went home.
8 But when the crowds saw this, they were awestruck, and glorified God, who had given such authority to men.
9 ¶ As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector's booth; and He *said to him, "Follow Me!" And he got up and followed Him.
10 Then it happened that as Jesus was reclining at the table in the house, behold, many tax collectors and sinners came and were dining with Jesus and His disciples.
11 When the Pharisees saw this, they said to His disciples, "Why is your Teacher eating with the tax collectors and sinners?"
12 But when Jesus heard this, He said, "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick.
13 "But go and learn what this means: 'I DESIRE COMPASSION, AND NOT SACRIFICE,' for I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
14 ¶ Then the disciples of John *came to Him, asking, "Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but Your disciples do not fast?"
15 And Jesus said to them, "The attendants of the bridegroom cannot mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them, can they? But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.
16 "But no one puts a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and a worse tear results.
17 "Nor do people put new wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved."
18 ¶ While He was saying these things to them, a synagogue official came and bowed down before Him, and said, "My daughter has just died; but come and lay Your hand on her, and she will live."
19 Jesus got up and began to follow him, and so did His disciples.
20 And a woman who had been suffering from a hemorrhage for twelve years, came up behind Him and touched the fringe of His cloak;
21 for she was saying to herself, "If I only touch His garment, I will get well."
22 But Jesus turning and seeing her said, "Daughter, take courage; your faith has made you well." At once the woman was made well.

23 When Jesus came into the official's house, and saw the flute-players and the crowd in noisy disorder,
24 He said, "Leave; for the girl has not died, but is asleep." And they began laughing at Him.
25 But when the crowd had been sent out, He entered and took her by the hand, and the girl got up.
26 This news spread throughout all that land.
27 ¶ As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out, "Have mercy on us, Son of David!"
28 When He entered the house, the blind men came up to Him, and Jesus *said to them, "Do you believe that I am able to do this?" They *said to Him, "Yes, Lord."
29 Then He touched their eyes, saying, "It shall be done to you according to your faith."
30 And their eyes were opened. And Jesus sternly warned them: "See that no one knows about this!"
31 But they went out and spread the news about Him throughout all that land.
32 As they were going out, a mute, demon-possessed man was brought to Him.
33 After the demon was cast out, the mute man spoke; and the crowds were amazed, and were saying, "Nothing like this has ever been seen in Israel."
34 But the Pharisees were saying, "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."
35 ¶ Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
37 Then He *said to His disciples, "The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few.
38 "Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest."

1: When Were The Blind Men’s Eyes Opened? (Think Spiritually)
2: What Was The “Loving” Reaction Of The Religious Leadership?
3: What Does This Say About Our Own Salvation?
1: When Were The Blind Men’s Eyes Opened? (Think Spiritually)
This is a really important Theologically as is will also clearly have us understanding the HOLY SPIRIT’S role in our very own Salvation, and we Pray HE Will OPEN our eyes to this truth.
First, we need to grasp that the Blind were “Unclean” since they have a defect, and though that sounds cruel on the surface, it actually speaks very clearly to who is actually Clean and unclean.
You see, Jesus Christ is the ONLY ONE EVER who was clean, and we are ALL Unclean, so the example of Jesus interacting with unclean, is the example of the only ones HE could interact with.
But back to what is happening here, and yes you are correct, Dr. Luke too records Jesus interaction with the Blind, but what is still staggering, and Matthew (Levi) knew it, is that the Blind are using Jesus Messianic name, and shouting it to Our KING!
Here are all the Religious leaders and crowds standing around talking and even talking to Jesus, and yet they, the Religious Leadership and Crowd never once us the Messianic name.
What is crystal clear here is that the Blind Men actually see Jesus for who HE is previous to their physical Eyes being opened!
What it also shows is the Spiritual Blindness of the Religious Leadership, as when they heard shouted aloud "Have mercy on us, Son of David!" they in their training should have know they were claiming Jesus to be who we know by the HOLY SPIRIT’S Merciful revelation that HE IS THE MESSIAH, the Promised Son Of David!
Jesus then Heals the Demon possessed man, and after restoring All three, what would you think the Religious Leaderships reaction be?
(Nice segway into the next point)
2: What Was The “Loving” Reaction Of The Religious Leadership?
Instead of being thrilled with the restoration of these precious souls, our Religious Leadership hurls accusations, 34 But the Pharisees were saying, "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."
So how does Jesus react, 35 ¶ Jesus was going through all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness.
36 Seeing the people, He felt compassion for them, because they were distressed and dispirited like sheep without a shepherd.
At this point it is important to note, this Blindness to faith and trust in the LORD is something we ALL struggle with, but our Church Leadership especially today have it the worst!
They need Church Consulting Firms to “Help” them build their Congregation, when the LORD Alone Build the Congregation!
They use websites to “write” and or “borrow” their Sermons, though one Website is blunt enough to say what is happening out load, ‘You Owe it to your Congregation to steal your Sermons”, and Yes, I received and kept such an email from Sermon Central.
We wonder why so many are leaving the Church, but to be honest with you, the ARE NOT leaving Christ, in fact they are growing in Christ and becoming better models of Jesus Ministry in their Daily personal life.
My Friends, Church Consulting Firms, Sermon “Help” sites, and Open Pulpit Headhunters, Denominations and Pastors to Cowardly to Teach on Total Depravity, that can only point to total Rescue of us by Jesus, these groups are tools of Satan, and are destroying Churches in record Number!
Try to prove me wrong as Churches are closing fast than ever in the United States, and we have more of these idiots to tell us what is “Wrong” with the Church, well I will tell you what is wrong, they ARE!!!
3: What Does This Say About Our Own Salvation?
Our personal Salvation, is and always has been, a Triune rescue, and the First step was the FATHER’S Predestined will, HIS SON, Jesus The Christ Full Purchase in HIS blood of our Sins and Souls, and the HOLY SPIRIT’S Regenerating our Dead Souls.
So, in our own personal Salvation, the HOLY SPIRIT Awakens us, and causes us by our TRIUNE GOD’S mercy to be awaken to faith, and Salvation and ALL of the work of the FATHER, SON and HOLY SPIRIT, Sorry Pastor Randy, the difference between Jacob I Loved and Esau I hated, is that Esau is NOTHING, and Esau as we are naturally born is in Total Depravity, and Jacob though too born in Total Depravity is save by Mercy and Grace alone.
So, Yes Esau is delt with rightly, and Jacob is saved by Grace alone.
Just to remind you as I close, this not said in anger, but in a kind tone, and if I have any issue, it is that Every Presbyterian Pastor whether PCA, OPC, ARPC, EPC, and Yes by one of their 11 Confessions PCUSA (They really are totally confused and actually more of a club then Church anymore), actually swear to understand this as the only path to salvation, (remember TULIP, Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, Irresistible Call, Perseverance of the Saints) and yet week in and week out their sermons suggest they are lying.
We Start Chapter 10 next lesson, and we will see more and more it is the Religious Leadership who hate Jesus more and More.
In Christ alone

The LORD’S Feast
1Co 11:23 ¶ For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus in the night in which He was betrayed took bread;
24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "This is My body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
25 In the same way He took the cup also after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes.
27 Therefore whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, shall be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
28 But a man must examine himself, and in so doing he is to eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
29 For he who eats and drinks, eats and drinks judgment to himself if he does not judge the body rightly.
When I serve Communion I serve a Raised Roll on Purpose, and a Cup of Grape Juice (4 oz) can you guess why?
Yes, The Lord’s Table we are to have a Seat, take your shoes off, no need the rush, Jesus has indeed Finished the Work.
