PGE Landscaping May 2024 Review

MAY 2024 REVIEW

As we start to see the vibrant colours and warmth of spring, we are excited for improved weather and a season ripe for growth and renewal.

While we embrace positive changes in the weather, we acknowledge the challenges that persist in the broader housing market. The past few months have presented a tough landscape, marked by fluctuating trends and unprecedented dynamics. Despite these obstacles, our commitment to serving you remains unwavering.

We hope that the second half of 2024 will allow the pace of the housing market to increase. We’re already seeing positive factors including falling inflation which is expected to lead to interest rate cuts, lower mortgage rates, and overall the economic environment is showing signs of stabilisation with mortgage approvals reaching their highest level in 18 months.

Who knows what the elections will bring, but we’re hopeful it’ll stimulate the market and drive activity.

An update on the PGE team, I'm thrilled to introduce our newest addition to the team, Matt Hocknull, who joins us as our dedicated Business Manager for our Grounds Maintenance division.

Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Matt, and you can read more him below.

We have also started an Employee Engagement Project which has been well received by the whole team. Our aim is to encourage open conversations in a safe space where we discuss all aspects of the business to get suggestions and innovative ideas from our staff across the business. Already there have been some fantastic ideas which we have started implementing, with others in the pipeline to be introduced over the coming months. We’re confident our customers, will see the benefits of this project and the ideas that we implement off the back of it.

As always, thank you for your continued trust and support as we embark on this journey together.

I hope you take the time to read the May newsletter and we hope you have a great June.

MASTERING LANDSCAPING: COLLABORATION IS KEY

Collaborating with a developer on landscaping projects requires effective communication, planning, trust, and mutual understanding to create a cohesive and functional design. That is why we pride ourselves on the longstanding relationships we have with our clients.

Take our ongoing works with CALA Homes, Fernleigh Park for instance, which was the 2023 NHBC Supreme winning development. There was a large public area that needed turfing and following our advice, CALA Homes fully trusted our process and that we would get the job done right, first time.

We monitored the ground conditions and temperatures, and landscaped the area when the time was right. Well, the images speak for themselves…there’s no CGI here!!!

INTRODUCING MAINTENANCE MATT

We are very excited to introduce our new Grounds Maintenance Manager, Matt Hocknull.

With a wealth of experience and a passion for enhancing outdoor spaces, Matt brings a fresh perspective and some innovative ideas to PGE, with his priority being to ensure your grounds are maintained to the highest standards.

Matt has been within the landscaping and grounds maintenance industry for nigh on 25 years, with almost half of that time spent on the tools.

Over the years Matt has worked his way through the ranks, with his most recent position being Regional Contracts Manager for an external maintenance business, where he was directly responsible for 25+ teams, dealing with nationwide contracts with high value and demands.

When asked what attracted him to the role and joining PGE and what’s his first move, he said

“I am very excited by the plans to grow the division within the company and am thrilled to be a part of what can be a prosperous future for this as part of the wider business. The growth will itself bring its own challenges, but I am really looking forward to bringing my experiences to the role and helping shape a bigger and better future for the Maintenance division”.

“My immediate focus is on establishing and growing client relationships and building on the positive feedback I have already received regarding our team’s professionalism on site. This will build a strong foundation for looking to grow our client portfolio, ensure we continue to deliver a top-class service, which will lead to expansion of the division.”

If you would like to discuss your maintenance needs, please contact Matt on 07399482234, matt.hocknull@pgelandscaping.com

FROM FAIL TO FLAIL

Sometimes our work can stretch beyond landscaping, including access negotiations and in some rare instances we are also the intermediaries between the developer and the public. Which came in handy with this recent success story in Coventry for a Pre-con project.

THANK YOU & GOOD LUCK GEORGE

As we say hello and welcome to Matt Hocknull, we say goodbye and good luck to George Skelton , our Junior Estimator, who leaves us beginning of June to join Volker Fitzpatrick as a Graduate Apprentice in Quantity Surveying.

George joined us as an Apprentice almost 2 years ago and during this time it’s been a pleasure to coach and mentor him and watch him grow both personally and professionally. We’re very proud and excited for George and wish him all the very best in his next chapter.

Bon Voyage George
