Medical Legal Toolkit -Medical Legal Report Writing...The Essentials

Medical Legal Toolkit -Medical Legal Report Writing...The Essentials

Fabulous this past weekend covering the essential aspects of a medical legal report that need to be understood by all health professionals.

There was a great discussion amongst the health professionals and the legal professionals outlining the following:

  • The essential components of a medical legal report
  • How to clearly narrate the patient’s history, physical examination findings, diagnosis and prognosis
  • The steps to complete a medical legal report efficiently
  • How to streamline the payment/invoicing for medical legal reports
  • How lawyers, juries and judges identify the good, bad and ugly medical legal report
  • Common challenges with medical legal reports and how to easily resolve them
  • Concepts of Future Care, Future Treatment, Thin Skull vs Crumbling Skull and Tort were discussed

Thanks to JA Pankiw-Petty, Robert Marcoux, Sonny Parhar and Robyn Wishart for providing the legal context of medical legal report writing.

One of the main themes that emerged included the importance of timely and satsfactory communication between the medical and health communities to ensure that requests are made and responded to correctly.

Looking forward to the next Medical Legal Reports -The Essentials Workshop on February 25, 2017!
