Medical Tourism Plenary Sessions; Workshops; Keynote Speaker
After 40+ years as one of the most prominent and recognized leaders, authors and advisors in the medical tourism industry, working in more than 120 countries, I've focused my posts articles and discussions here on LinkedIn on niche topics no one else covers. I also presented these topics several international and US presentations, breakouts, keynotes, and workshops on the following niche topics in 120+ countries. These topics come from my uncommon mix of healthcare business administration and business development successes, my clinical background as an operating theater nurse, work as an ambulatory surgery center administrator, and training as a health law paralegal, negotiator and mediator. Then there's the entire "hands on" learning that many branding, certification and other consultants cannot offer because they've never engaged professionally in patient movement. They just talk. If they tell you right or wrong, there's no consequence.
If you want these topics covered at your next medical tourism industry event, I may be the only one who can go deep on the following topics:
1. Health Tourism Cluster Development: I am known for my expertise and creating successful collaborative networks among healthcare providers, hospitality services, and local, reginal and national governments to enhance a destination’s appeal to medical tourists. I share guidance on designing and operating successful health tourism clusters.
2. Medical Tourism Productization: Medical tourism is a service line "product". As such, I discuss the process of transforming existing specialty and surgical healthcare services into marketable products tailored for regional and international patients, focusing on aspects like pricing, packaging, branding, and quality assurance. Did you know that this guidance is rare and that I actually developed special software to help with the pricing of the bundled packages for surgery? It's called Bundlr™ and is available for use on a software as a service, subscription basis.
3. Destination Development for Health Tourism: Over the last 4-1/2 decades, I've worked on strategies for developing destinations into attractive health tourism spots, including infrastructure planning, service quality enhancement, and marketing approaches. But while most consultants stop at the strategic level, I am able to execute. Therefore, I clean up other people's strategic messes, and transform what was already attempted into successful outcomes.
4. Medical Tourism Accreditation and Certification: I guide hospitals, clinics and outpatient surgery centers through the processes of initial and reaccreditation preparation. I also provide insights into the role and selection of appropriate accreditation and certification programs for healthcare providers aiming to attract international patients, discussing their impact on quality assurance and marketability. I take them through the preparation, mock inspection and then accompany them through the site visit, when requested. I also participate in candid discussions about the value of accreditation in the perspective of a patient/shopper.
5. Legal and Regulatory Considerations in Medical Tourism: I addresses the complex legal and regulatory issues involved in medical tourism, such as cross-border healthcare laws, patient rights, and contractual agreements between providers and facilitators. Most people just talk about surface issues. I did a two hour workshop in India a few years back that left more than 40 attendees in a standing room only room aghast at what they didn't know or had overlooked. Three audience attendees were attorneys! There's always more to learn on this critical topic. And I have nothing to sell, I'm "in the business" just like most of them. I market to patients, coordinate travel, contract for payments, and mitigate risks. I don't just talk about it.
6. Medical Tourism Facilitator Training and Certification: I don't offer any certifications. There are countless others selling worthless pieces of gilded paper for medical tourism facilitators. Instead my text books and courses offers specialized training programs for facilitators, hospital and clinic executives, and others in the business. Certification adds a layer of liability in a legal sense. Why get it if the marketplace couldn't care less?
By delving into these specialized areas, I offer comprehensive insights that contribute to the advancement and professionalism of the medical tourism industry. After all, who else can you name in the industry that has a proven track record of revenues in excess of USD $2m a year from medical tourism and 40+ years in the business?
