Meet the Team Series - Mitch Hook!

• How long have you been with USSM and why did you join our organization?

I have been with USSM for 7 months, I joined USSM because of the unique opportunity to work for a startup in the critical metals space in STL. Helping take USSM from startup to large, established company is extremely exciting!

• Tell us about your career path prior to working at USSM.

I started my career in Investment Banking with Baird after undergrad, since then I have held a few different roles in Strategy, FP&A, Corporate Development and Business Development. Most recently I worked for a local PE group in one of their PortCo’s doing Corporate Development and Business Development.

• How do you achieve success in your role?

Success in any finance role is providing value to C-suite level executives through thorough financial analysis and quick/clean/accurate presentation of data.

• What is the best advice you’ve ever received?

Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when the job is done.

• What do you love most about what you do?

Getting to learn the economics behind the critical mineral business and all the different ancillaries. What are the major drivers, how do the macro-economic conditions affect our business, etc. Pre USSM, I worked in healthcare, so it has been a brand new industry for me and it has been very interesting.

• What book had the biggest impact on your life?

The Bible

• Tell us a surprising or a fun fact about you.

I am starting training for an Ironman 70.3 next summer, so if I am tired in the office, you know why.
