If you believe the words of the 14th Dalai Lama, “Happiness is not something ready-made. It comes from your own actions.”

Lofty philosophy from a Tibetan monk was the furthest thing from Janna’s mind growing up hungry in Saskatoon, SK. At the age of 6 she was watching Mom put bread on the table by re-purposing other people’s leftovers. Her childhood was a daily dance with scarcity and hunger. Which is what makes her story of radical generosity so refreshingly unbelievable.

When Janna made a deliberate decision to choose happiness over suffering, it made space for many surprises. She has a strongly brewed belief that happiness and giving go together like a perfect double-double.  

Giving doesn’t have to be grandiose. It can be as simple as inviting someone out for a conversation over coffee. To trade digital autopilot for a more personal experience. Showing up without any agenda and connecting with a fellow human over a well-brewed mug of joe. In her words, “no act of kindness is ever wasted”.
