Memorial Day 2023

Keith, Tommy, Art, and T.C. As my time in the United States Air Force becomes further and further away their faces become harder to recall. They are the faces I see this & every Memorial Day. The ultimate sacrifice happens. Training is hard. It's meant to be. So our freedom can be easy. And that is the reason for Memorial Day.

The ultimate sacrifice is still happening today. My daughter served as a Marine. Ras & Ski are two faces that will live with her. They paid the price. One from Nebraska, one from Wyoming.

In the future my grandchildren may serve. And I would bet they will remember faces. People have served in uniform for this country since before it was a country. And people have died in uniform for this country before it was a country.

And that is the "Price of Freedom."

Do I wish it wasn't so? Of course. Do I wake up everyday thankful I live in the greatest country ever to exist on this planet. Of course I do.

So enjoy the weekend. It's been paid for.
