Memorial Day Weekend
Have a very memorable Memorial Day Weekend. I reflect on my military career that spans from 1975 to 2003 as an enlisted infantryman, an infantry officer, and paratrooper. I stop to remember the over 30 people that I knew that were taken early in their young lives defending this country. A lot of people don't know that a host of servicemen and women are seriously injured or killed in training, go down in a plane crash, accidents and of course the dangers of combat. Then there are those who have PTSD. The walking wounded. Please remember those who have served on this weekend of remembrance. Have a hamburger, a coke and fried at the lake for those who cannot. Remember also the ones left behind: the wives, the mothers, the sisters, and brothers and yes to the fathers that lost their boy or girl. Or prays and works with the wounded in body or spirit when they come home.
We are the ones that kept the Cold War cold and kept it from turning hot. The reason is that the enemy fear us. We kept America safe and trained the ones that replaced us, we are old Soldiers, Airmen, Marines, and Sailors. To those keeping up the tradition; We Salute you. You will always be remembered.
