Mental slumps are bad for business.

Are you in a mental slump?

Have you ever sat down to write content for your business, but you're so stressed from all the ups and downs, exhausted by the learning curves or just feeling blah that your mind is absolutely blank?

You might be in a mental slump. And if you deal with "business anxiety", you may experience mental slumps often.

I've been there.

The worst thing you can do is force yourself to be creative, it only adds more stress and makes you feel disempowered and unmotivated.

I used to think, "I'm not good enough, that's why I can't think of anything."

Here's the interesting thing, I was MOST creative when I wasn't thinking about being creative.

I notice when my coaching clients stop focusing on a to-do list and start doing something creative the ideas start flowing.

If you're a service-based entrepreneur or content creator, you know that part of sustaining success is your ability to be creative. Being creative doesn't mean you need to be an Artist, Musician, or New York Times Best Selling Author.

The creativity I'm referring to is being able to create content for your social media, create your signature packages, plan events, write articles, and maybe even write a book.

Why do entrepreneurs struggle with creativity?

Entrepreneurs may struggle with creativity due to various reasons such as fear of failure, lack of inspiration, or limited resources.

According to a study by Harvard Business Review, entrepreneurs often prioritize other aspects of their business such as finance and operations over creativity, leading to a neglect of innovative thinking. In addition, the pressure to succeed and the fear of taking risks can hinder creativity.

Business Anxiety can make it difficult to be innovative. One quote from the study by Harvard Business Review states, "Many entrepreneurs are so focused on the day-to-day operations of their business that they don't have the time, energy, or mental space to think creatively."

Another source, an article by Forbes, suggests that entrepreneurs may struggle with creativity because they are so focused on the practical aspects of their business that they forget to tap into their creative side.

According to the article, "Entrepreneurs need to remember that creativity is not a luxury, but a necessity for success."

In summary, entrepreneurs may struggle with creativity due to various factors such as fear of failure, lack of inspiration, and prioritizing other aspects of their business over creativity.

What are the mental benefits of coloring for entrepreneurs?

When was the last time you colored in a coloring book?

Coloring can have several mental benefits for entrepreneurs.

According to a study published in the Journal of the American Art Therapy Association, coloring can help reduce stress and anxiety levels (Malchiodi, 2017).

In addition, coloring can also improve focus, concentration, and creativity, as it allows the brain to enter a meditative state (Friedman, 2017).

According to entrepreneur and author Tim Ferriss, coloring can be a part of a morning routine to help calm the mind and reduce stress levels.

He says, "I find it meditative and it helps me focus. I use it as a tool for slowing down, because it's hard to multitask while doing it" (Ferriss, 2017).

Overall, coloring can be a simple yet effective way for entrepreneurs to enhance their mental well-being and productivity.

You can get an old-school coloring book from any dollar store or color with the kids.

These days there are so many cool coloring books geared toward empowerment and entrepreneurs.

I've been using a coloring book titled "Working My Dream Into My Reality (Entrepreneur/Career)" by Rhons Way. I love the inspirational words and the pictures look like me, so it's really empowering.

There are many ways entrepreneurs can build mental wealth for business, coloring is another deposit in your vault. Will you try it out? What other creative outlets will you try? Drawing or painting can work too.
