Mental Health in The Workplace
In recent years, there has been a great deal of emphasis placed on improving employees' mental health in the workplace.
Although many organizations have tried a proactive approach to spotlight the value of well-being and implement programs to address and tackle mental health issues, 85% of employees are still experiencing stress and burnout that could lead to mental health issues.
In addition, only 49% of employees agreed that their companies care about their well-being. (Source: Mental Health America National)
Organizations may have unconsciously taken an approach that still does not fully address or solve the remaining issues. Without a transparent and collective approach to mental health and well-being, companies face an uphill battle to support their employees.
So what can be done to create a robust mental health program that fully embraces employee needs?
1. Empathy and Authenticity – Why? Because people connect with people. Without the human element, your employees aren't going to resonate with the message you're trying to deliver.

2. Implement your culture – Culture aligned with action. Assess and review your current culture. Does it enable your employees to confidently voice what they want from the mental health and well-being programs you're implementing?
3. Ask your team - Anon polls and surveys can effectively determine what your employees want from their employer. Listen and provide solutions that match their concerns.
As we mark the end of Mental Health Month, we understand that mental health is the top priority for the well-being of employees, and it should be recognized as a long-term strategy to ensure companies champion mental health in the workplace.
Here at Engtal, we highly prioritize the well-being of our people.
