Merchandising and its 4 Basic Techniques

The world of merchandising is very diverse and therefore can be adapted to any product, however, in the retail channel there are 4 basic rules that you should try to adjust according to the needs of displaying your product or what the business in which you will place the display allows you, let's see what techniques they are:

Vertical:

It is the grouping of merchandise in a vertical column or screen in such a way that allows customers to follow their visualization from top to bottom, in this case, I can cite two examples of this, the case of dairy products which can perfectly be placed in this way and on the other hand in the textile industry where the same product can be placed, but placing different sizes in each of the levels of the hanger.

Horizontal:

Placing products horizontally and in a blocked manner. This technique allows all products to be at eye level (although this will not always be the case). Examples of this technique are foods with the same product in different presentations. For example, a shelf at eye level with a presentation of coconut water in 1 Ltr / 600ml and 300ml on the same shelf.

Color Block:

This technique involves the use of color to display the products and is generally done vertically, and is called one of the best techniques to attract customers to your store, however, not all companies have a wide enough range of products to be able to attract their customers in this way, additionally, the packaging in many of them is made up of separate products and not as a family of products, which makes this technique not useful for them.

CROSS MERCHANDISING ADRIAN CHURION

This technique is defined as a strategy to display products outside the natural space they occupy within their rack, complementing products that can be used as accompaniments, for example, right next to the pizza refrigerators, place the pizza cutters and gloves for the heat when you cook them! It's great, and disruptive at the same time.
