A Message to the Channel Community.

A Message to the Channel Community.

Doing what’s right can be difficult, and it takes courage.

I’m proud to be a leader in this space, but I'm not proud of the way women have to operate in it.

There are bad actors in every industry, and there are bad actors in the channel — and the women in the channel are often the ones who have to deal with the repercussions.

It’s time to take a stand and evolve our culture publicly. I’m taking a pledge to support and protect women’s safety in the channel, and I invite you all to join me.

1. Say Something: Do not be silent when you observe unprofessional, predatory, or disrespectful actions towards women in the channel.

2. Do Something: Take action. Intervene and report bad actors. Take a stand. Create public policies and enforce them. Don’t let them slide.

3. Listen: If you’re not aware or uninformed about this issue, ask the women you know. Be a safe space for women to share and be heard.

If you stand by these principles, let the community know. Download the pledge logo. Make a post and publicly commit. Let our sisters know we support them, and they have an ACTIVE ally in you.

Our community can be a place of change, and it starts with each of us taking a stand.

Amante 1530:

A new aperitif brand from Tuscany’s historic Il Palagio 1530 estate. It’s got a subtle bitterness but is heavy on floral citrus notes, as well as noticeable ginger. Perfect for newcomers to bitter flavors, it's great for spritzes, and soda cocktails, and pairs well with cucumber and citrus.

I’m sorry I missed this in my own backyard, Ronnell Richards! Doing the right thing doesn’t come naturally to any of us. Yet it is what we must do to develop the kind of character that will sustain us. It is not easy to do the right thing when the wrong thing is expedient. Why is this? I think it’s an unhealthy obsession with building image v building integrity. Image is a facade, but integrity won’t allow our lips to violate our heart. Character isn’t created in a crisis; it only comes to light. People with integrity are consistent and live by their principles—no matter where they are, who they are with, or what kind of situation they find themselves in. Developing character and maintaining integrity requires constant attention. Thank you for asking the tough questions that prompt men and women within our industry to look within and question our moral standings.
