A Message from CPH Executive Director Esther Krofah

Dear Colleagues,

At the Milken Institute, we believe a meaningful life is built on a foundation of good health. At the Center for Public Health (CPH), as our portfolio grows and new projects take shape, we see, more than ever, the interconnectivity of our three focus areas of Mental Health, Prevention and Chronic Disease, and Health Equity. We’re committed to a long-term strategy catalyzing policy, system, and environmental change that advances population health.

This month, we released two publications related to our Mental Health focus area: the Milken Institute Leidos Collaborative Action Group Recap and the Racial Equity and Mental Health in the Workplace: Actions to Drive Systems Change brief. Both publications share highlights and examples of actionable steps that can be taken to advance mental health in the workplace and beyond.

Still to come this spring, as part of our Prevention and Chronic Disease work, we will publish an issue brief capturing insights and opportunities from a project in partnership with Healthcare Distribution Alliance exploring ways to reimagine the pharmaceutical supply chain to advance public health outcomes.    

Our Health Equity focus area continues to grow with the addition of an advisory group, and I encourage you to read the deeply insightful essays penned by our senior director of health equity, which are linked below, under our Programs at a Glance section. 

Turning to upcoming events, we look forward to seeing many of you at our 2023 Global Conference in Los Angeles, April 30–May 3. The thought-provoking panels, dynamic speakers, and opportunities to connect with thought leaders from across industries and sectors during this annual event are always invigorating. I sincerely hope you’ll join us in person or via livestream!
