THE METAVERSE LAND GRAB

The “Metaverse Land Grab” continues in 2023 with a whopping $2 billion plus in spent in 2022 securing digital real estate and its only going to keep accelerating. As I did my first NASDAQ listing in 1996 and pioneered web1 (e.g., Internet Marketing) in San Francisco in 1999 for The Omnicom Group (NYSE: OMC).

Therefore, having “pivoted” again back into real estate from the tech/digital marketing world and recently set up a JV partnership with Keller Williams On The Water Sarasota, I would like to share my perspective.

BUT, before I start talking about how I see the ‘future of the Internet’ and/or real estate, I would like to highlight from my ‘cross-over’ perspective what the future leaders in the metaverse must have to be high performance and leaders in 2023 and beyond.

Having pioneered web1, web2 and now involved with web3, I strongly believe the future leaders and CEOs in the metaverse MUST understand, Metaverse technology is a core feature of Web3 and will be built using blockchain systems and open standards, and it will be run by a network of computers around the world rather than a single entity. BUT they will also understand and excel at:

  • Digital literacy and expertise: In the metaverse, it will be essential for leaders and CEOs to have a deep understanding of technologies such as blockchain, smart contracts, NFTs, and crypto, as well as the ability to adapt to new technologies as they emerge. 
  • Strategic thinking and vision: To succeed in the metaverse, leaders will need to be able to think strategically and have a clear vision for the future of their organization. This will involve anticipating and adapting to changes in the market, as well as identifying new opportunities for growth and innovation. 
  • Collaboration and teamwork: The metaverse is a highly collaborative and interconnected environment, and leaders will need to be able to build and maintain strong relationships with partners, stakeholders, and team members in order to succeed. 
  • Creativity and innovation: To stay ahead of the competition in the metaverse, leaders will need to foster a culture of creativity and innovation within their organization and be willing to take calculated risks. 
  • Adaptability and agility: The metaverse is constantly evolving, and leaders will need to be able to adapt and change course quickly in order to succeed. This will require a high level of agility and the ability to pivot in response to changing market conditions. 

Here are ten fast and potentially profitable ways I see for Keller Williams Realty to define themselves as the worldwide leader in the global luxury real estate industry using the metaverse, NFTs, blockchain, tokenization, cryptocurrency, extended reality (ER), virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), and other tech trends in 2023: 

1.    Developing a virtual reality platform that allows potential buyers and renters to explore luxury properties in a highly immersive and interactive way. 

2.    Using extended reality (ER) technologies to give potential buyers and renters the ability to virtually "try out" different properties and see what they would look like with different furniture and decor. 

3.    Implementing a blockchain-based platform for securely and efficiently tracking property ownership, sales transactions, and other relevant data. 

4.    Using NFTs (non-fungible tokens) to create digital versions of luxury properties that can be bought and sold in the metaverse. 

5.    Offering virtual staging services to help potential buyers visualize how they could furnish and decorate a luxury property. 

6.    Leveraging blockchain technology to streamline and secure the rental process, including verifying tenant identities and creating smart contracts for rental agreements. 

7.    Creating virtual experiences that allow buyers and renters to get a sense of what it's like to live in a particular luxury neighborhood or community. 

8.    Using blockchain and metaverse technologies to create virtual luxury real estate marketplaces where buyers and sellers can connect and transact in a secure and transparent manner. 

9.    Developing virtual reality or other immersive tools that allow agents to show luxury properties to potential buyers and renters without physically being there. 

10. Leveraging blockchain and metaverse technologies to create virtual experiences that allow buyers and renters to explore luxury properties and neighborhoods in a more immersive and interactive way.

11. Offering cryptocurrency and tokenization options for payment and transactions. 

12. Using augmented reality (AR) technology to allow potential buyers and renters to virtually "try out" furniture and decor in different properties. 

13. Developing a virtual reality platform that allows potential buyers and renters to virtually "tour" properties and neighborhoods in a highly immersive and interactive way. 

14. Implementing a blockchain-based platform for securely and efficiently tracking property ownership and sales transactions for luxury properties. 

15. Using NFTs to create digital versions of luxury properties that can be bought and sold in the metaverse and allowing buyers to customize their virtual properties with different finishes and features. 

16. Offering virtual staging services to help potential buyers visualize how they could furnish and decorate a luxury property using augmented reality (AR) technology. 

17. Leveraging blockchain technology to streamline and secure the rental process for luxury properties, including verifying tenant identities and creating smart contracts for rental agreements. 

18. Creating virtual experiences that allow buyers and renters to get a sense of what it's like to live in a particular luxury neighborhood or community using extended reality (ER) technologies. 

19. Using blockchain and metaverse technologies to create virtual luxury real estate marketplaces where buyers and sellers can connect and transact in a secure and transparent manner using cryptocurrency and tokenization options. 

20. Developing virtual reality or other immersive tools that allow agents to show luxury properties to potential buyers and renters without physically being there, using augmented reality (AR) technology to virtually "stage" the properties. 

21. Leveraging blockchain and metaverse technologies to create virtual experiences that allow buyers and renters to explore luxury properties and neighborhoods in a more immersive and interactive way using extended reality (ER) technologies. 

22. Offering cryptocurrency and tokenization options for payment and transactions for luxury properties.
