Microsoft - The Great Escape

As we approached the Cloud Computing era, Microsoft had to pivot. They did an excellent job of changing course quickly and embracing the cloud. A lot of credit goes to Ray Ozzie for creating the Azure blueprint and for Satya Nadella for executing on the strategy.

Recently, reports surfaced that Microsoft was close to acquiring TikTok. For me this gave me a jolt.

I spent a few years working for Microsoft and witnessed many flawed acquisitions and "innovation" in the consumer space ( BOB, The SPOT (Smart Personal Object Technology) Watch, Microsoft Kin, Ultramobile PCs and Microsoft Courier were forward-looking devices Additionally, Windows phone, Zune, and Groove were products Microsoft let flounder or failed executing on the vision.

I am sure Satya Nadella will never read this, but in the event that he is does.... I recommend he aborts the TikTok deal and continue to focus on the Enterprise Cloud!

I recommend that Microsoft acquire companies such as Citrix, Datadog, Twillio, Crowdstrike, Fastley and Slack.

Do not buy TikTok!
