MicroSourcing and BEST: A partnership giving new life to discarded items
With the right mindset and the right partnerships, we can turn trash into treasure.
This is what MicroSourcing, the pioneer and largest offshore provider of managed services in the Philippines, and Basic Environmental Systems and Technologies (BEST), a pioneer in ecological solid waste management, demonstrated by inking a partnership that promises to bring about a positive change in the way we deal with waste.
On September 18, 2023, the two companies signed a memorandum of agreement that aims to address one of the most pressing environmental issues of our time—waste management.
The cornerstone of this partnership is the innovative "Trash To Cash Back" program. This program is not just about recycling; it's about incentivizing the act of recycling. It's about turning what we often see as waste into something of value.
Trash To Cash Back Program
Every week, MicroSourcing Facilities’ staff segregates and transports recyclables (single-use plastics, metal scraps, and paper products) to drop-off centers and exchanges them for environmental points. These recyclables are then stored in BEST warehouses and later delivered to recycling or upcycling companies. The once-discarded items are processed and returned to the supply chain as raw materials or new products with a purpose.
As of September 16, 2023, MicroSourcing has already recycled 1300 kilos of waste, earning equivalent environmental points. By December 2023, the plan is to convert all these environmental points into household staples and distribute them to the hardworking housekeeping and security staff at MicroSourcing.
Together, MicroSourcing and BEST are showing that it's possible to create positive change, one recyclable at a time. And in doing so, they're not just making a difference today, but they're paving the way for a more sustainable future.
