Mindful Moments of the Week #16
Here are this week's set of guided mindfulness practices, both meditation-focused and non-meditative focused practices. This weeks theme is about defining and exploring our purpose with a sprinkle of gratitude:
Full Cycle of Breath: Focusing our mind on something creates a good, healthy distraction away from distractions. It can help us in managing some of the triggers that we experience in everyday life. It is a simple concept that we explore in this practice where we break-down our focus on the breath before experiencing full-immersion in one full cycle
Caring for Yourself: Remember the Oxygen Mask analogy? The same applies to life in general. In order to help others, you yourself must in a good mental and physical state. Otherwise, you risk both your own wellbeing as well as others. It might sound selfish, but it completely isn't simply because we can BETTER serve others when we are in a good place. We explore this concept of self-care through this practice
Open Your Senses: Open awareness is a great practice to explore the World around us, devoid of any of the distractions. Here we look at how can tune in to some of the smaller aspects of the environment, and cherish them completely
Colour Your World: As we make our way through our day, we may lose sight of some of the simple things and much of the beauty that lies in those things. In this exercise, we explore color as a meditative focus, where we deeply explore aspects of objects to ground ourselves even further. The remarkable thing about this practice is the way we often discover new things about old items when we focus.
Short Body Scan: The body and mind are incredibly connected. Studies have proven that we tend to experience a physiological response before we have comprehended the situation. It is why it is important to tune in to how the body is feeling. Any stressors, strains, feelings. We explore this in a relatively short manner in this exercise.
